In EvilCraft you follow in the footsteps of an adventurer who has discovered "dark gems", just like you. Deep underground there are now "dark ore" blocks which roughly behave in the same way as redstone: they start emitting particles if you step on them. If you mine them you'll get dark gems, and these items are very special and very powerful.

To get started with this mod from scratch you should combine the dark gem with an apple, this will spoil the apple. Seriously: don't try to eat that! Instead, feed it to an animal and make sure you bring a book with you. As soon as the animal dies you'll see some kind of strange "portal", hurry: and throw the book in! This will get you the "Origins of Darkness" manuscript, which is essentially the guide for this mod.

This guide literally reads as if it were written by someone who's been here before: they discovered the dark gems and started experimenting with it to see what it could do, and fortunately for us they documented everything.

From repairing items, to "raising" the dead!

What I really like about this mod is that it'll provide useful features the very moment you make your first device. That is... if you make the right decisions of course; it's perfectly possible to pick the "wrong" device to start with, thus making it much harder to expand on what you already have.

Seriously: you'll want a blood infuser as your first device, this chest allows you to infuse items with blood, but also allows you to repair items as well. Don't you have enough iron to warrant making an anvil just yet? Well.. maybe this can help keep you fix up your (iron?) armor & tools.

Capturing spirits

There are a lot of general QOL features which this mod adds. Obscured glass can help you build mob spawners: this glass lets light in, but blocks the sun which prevents hostile mobs from spawning. Or what about the dark tank which can hold any kind of liquid you need?

But things will become really interesting once you learned about vengeful spirits. You see.. when mobs (or players!) die their spirit remains in our realm for a few moments. And dark gems can help you create tools which can capture that spirit! This can help you when you use your "spirit boxes" ("the box of eternal closure") in a so called spirit furnace; this allows you to revive the spirit and kill it all over again, and again and again. Why? Easy: to get more drops out of your mobs!

Of course all of that only works with enough blood....

I just spent a long time writing a very long review for this pack, then accidentally navigated away and lost it all, along with my energy to write. So here's the short of it.

Gameplay: Very good, 4 stars. It is a very highly polished take on the classic modded skyblock genre. No crazy balance issues, lots of freedom in how you tackle objectives, and very good optional quests to guide you if you want to use them. The quests touch on a lot of different ways to get to do the same things, but you never have to do more than one way to progress the questline. Great for newbies and veterans alike. Due to the nature of kitchen sink packs, there are many mods you could be incentivized to completely skip if you like to gun straight for the endgame solutions. But for the most part, crafting recipes naturally guide you through some interesting mods you otherwise might not have used. If you treat it like what it is, a kitchen sink pack, you can enjoy it a whole lot. You can tell a lot of effort was put into the little changes that make progressing through the quests and different tech a very polished experience.

One other thing I did like is that flight isn't incredibly hard to get. I enjoy when a skyblock pack gives me at least some form of flight early on. It makes everything a whole lot easier.

Aesthetics: A solid 3 stars. Nothing to complain about. Most things are as they come from the individual mods. There is no general aesthetic theme or anything, just good ol' minecraft. There are some cool graphics in the quest menu, and the sky looks pretty. Standard modded minecraft otherwise, for the most part.

Performance and Stability: Perfect 5 stars. This pack blows many others out of the water in terms of performance. Of course, the fact that it is a skyblock helps, but this pack is still very optimized even among modded skyblocks. It's very light on RAM, and the FPS is through the roof. To be fair, I have not played many skyblocks on 1.20.1, but of the few I have played, this is one of the most optimized. Without adding any mods or changing any settings, I was getting a constant 144fps, which isn't common with large modpacks no matter what hardware you have, and very impressive. The server-side performance is just as good. I ran a server that had maybe 15-20 people on at the peak, and it was running at maximum TPS the entire time. It still is. This pack is so fast, when I first booted it up, a cop knocked on my front door and gave me a speeding ticket.

Overall: 5 stars. Like I mentioned, this pack is great for beginners and modded minecraft pros alike, as long as you are a fan of kitchen sink modpacks. There are so many options to choose when going up the tech tree. The huge amount of high quality quests help a ton with both figuring out what to do next to progress and setting small goals for yourself if you have too many options available at once. It's easy to play by yourself or with friends since it's an easy pack to run.

I loved exploring all the buildings, fighting my way into the wasteland. I liked the horde system, it encourages players to build a base and equip themselves, or you can just fly your way out of it with a plane, both options are perfect. What I did not like is that the mobs get tougher as time goes on. I understand that progressive difficulty is a very common thing in video games but I think there might be better ways to make getting stronger worth it.

As much as I love WebDisplays, it really isn't what I'd call intuitive. This mod is far easier to actually use.

Introduction to Chroma Endless 2

So, Chroma Endless 2 complete took me 225 hours(30 of them i spent on Piggy bank multiblock which is really slow :( . In this review I'm gonna talk about mods, quest system and a little about each game stage(Early-game, Mid-game and End-game) Also I added AE2-Additions, bc why not?
Mods
Mods is quite... usual. You got Create and IE at early game – impressive. Mekanism and Thermal at mid game – wonderful and Draconic Evolution in the end game – phenomenal. The only unusual mod is MCDoom which added for... Um... I don't really know for what. The only thing I ran into is oneshoting mobs in the nether. So overall mods is just collection of most popular mods so 5/10
Quest system
Main quest line – Nothing interesting to say just linear quest with only necessary items needed to progress
Extra quest lines(Includes shop, challenges etc.) – Stupid quest like craft every existing item in the mod that needed just to mad you because some main quests require them. Shop is useless, the only item needed it soul steel. Challenges in absolutely boring, all of them is just manually spending time to breed 1500 animals or trade with 500 villager, but that not the worst what about killing 1 million mobs(I killed +-4000 mobs after completing modpack)
Reward system – And the worst thing about quests is rewards, some modpacks gives you no rewards but CE2 have coins, sounds nice? NO, that's lie, because coin system is absolutely broken, with coins you can't get anything useful, most of the quest gives you 1 copper or 1 silver coin, but you can just kill 1 Illager to get 1.5 silver coins. Also you can trade some items for coins, but this is useless too, because killing 100 of any mob gives you only 1 silver coin, so you can just kill 1 Illager instead. Overall – questing reward is a lie 1/10
Overall for all quest system 7/10, So if you're gonna ignore extra quest lines and concentrate only on the main quest you got nice experience
Game process – Ok, now I'm gonna talk about the most important part of the game
Early-game 1-3 stages – as I said previously, Create at the first stage(just normal create), IE, botania and early mekanism at the second stage(Nothing interesting except for combiner? First time modpack force me to use combiner from mekanism). The only good thing I want to say about early-game is AE2, thanks god you didn't put it in Late-game
Mid-game 4-5 stages – The best part of the modpack imo. You got a lot of new content, first rocket(When you still don't know about all other trashy planets with only 1 new ore), first necessary multiblock and a lot of automation without high amount of grind.
Late-game 6-8 stages – You start to realize that the game is becoming repetitive. You got new material – you craft new rocket – you build same multiblock there – you got new material – repeat 4 times in a row. Btw its not grindy at all, so not that bad as I say. And the last stage(Creative age), which is accidentally grindy? The only thing you need to automate really hard is insanium(Tip for you – make insanium farm as fast as you can)
Overall – That's good expert modpack, it's not grindy at all. That modpack doesn't require high mod knowledge or gigantic autocraft system.

A unique but heavy minigame

[My reviews are based on a mixture of subjective preference and objective game design criteria]
[Disclaimer: I am the developer of this project]

Design ratings:

-Originality: 7/10

-Aesthetics: 9/10

-Thematic Consistency: 6/10

-Custom Content: 10/10

-Grind: Very Low

This project was created to try and capture some of the nostalgia I had playing old tower defense flash games. For me, it captures that gameplay really well. Actually relying on towers for defense instead of just the player is something I had only seen one other pack do (Mirage Tower Defense, which is unplayable due to bugs unfortunately). Between the custom invasions, challenges, and the first prototype of SAM Worlds © (semi procedural adventure maps), I think it offers very unique and fun gameplay.

It's not without its flaws though, and there are many things I'd do differently now if I were to revisit it. Although a lot of time was spent balancing the in game shop and the 20 levels, the invasion levels themselves lack variety. It would be better if each invasion's enemy distribution and maybe even type were randomized instead of being fixed for any given level. As is, the replayability isn't very high. The gameplay is also somewhat awkwardly split between genres, with the player engaging in a more RPG-like gameplay in between invasions. While this wouldn't be bad on its own, since invasions trigger every night, the day cycle/ time between each level doesn't really give the player enough time to both repair their base and go exploring the structures to engage with the story. And considering that certain parts of the story unlock some of the most powerful weapons in the pack, it creates a bit of a rushed experience. The day length should have been much longer. Another issue is the large number of mobs in later levels, which make it difficult for weaker systems to run the modpack. It definitely would have been better to reduce mob count and increase their health instead to achieve the same effect in a more performance friendly way.

Despite its flaws, it's still some of the most fun I've had in modded MC (creator bias, I know). I enjoy total overhauls and custom content, and this is about as far from vanilla gameplay as I've played so far. My favorite part of the pack is still the challenge levels, even though I've never actually managed to beat them >_<

It's a really fun pack with a lot of OP things. It's kinda cheesable to be honest, and many items are just so powerful that other things become kinda useless. The early to mid game was really fun with all the dimensions and bosses, but the end game is kinda whatever (could use better balancing. I was one just shotting most things).

There's even a cool custom mod for this pack so that's a plus

It's still pretty early on in the development, and has good quests and options for exploration, but some of the later game quests become very grindy and you get bottlenecked by things out of your control.
