I chose this modpack originially because of two main reasons:
It had a lot of newer mods that I was interested in, that werent present in other packs.
It had a large amount of downloads already, so I had assumed it was at the very least bug tested by the community and would have enough info floating around to fix it myself if not by the devs.
However, while the newer mods were fine. This modpack probably had one of the worst performance both on the client and server I have ever seen in a list before, as well as having multiple extremely gamebreaking bugs that make me feel like the devs didnt even test it, or are fine with things such as:
Offhanding an item listed as Two-Handed entirely deletes it. It's a known bug... Gone unfixed for a very long time. Pressing the off-hand key on your main weapon can entirely delete it by accident. You cant get it back.
Additionally there was constant lag spikes, entire server freezes randomly during world gen, and a whole host of other issues that, if fixed, would've made for an average but okay kitchen sink pack.
Quests were...
The "custom content" in the mod was only just the UI and some (Very buggy and extremely loud randomly) OST from what i understood, the rest was moved to their Fabric version of the pack, which the questbook basically advertises you to swap to.
The other quests were basically just guides, the rewards were almost entirely miniscule amounts of XP. It's better then nothing, but it's not really a quest log more then what you'd see just searching for the mod in JEI.
Of course, that's for the quests that do exist. The vast majority of mods do not even have entiries in the quest log, and the entire magic category only has Botania in it. I would've preferred a quest category just telling me a brief summary of the magic mods in the pack, then being told nothing at all.
Additionally, difficulty felt all over the place. I remember hearing this pack was more "Balanced" then others, but I had full enchanted Netherite gear, and some weapons that were far stronger then that, and one boss was taking about 0.8% of it's health per hit... While regenning. I dont see how that's balanced or enjoyable to fight a HP sponge boss.

This is some sort of "vanilla+" modpack with custom textures, shaders and a lot of "scary" stuff like cave dweller. It has only a few major mods: Immersive Engineering, Hexerei, Biomancy 2 and The Aether. The first two can be skipped, to be honest I don't even know what IE is doing there (it doesn't really fit in this modpack anyway). The goal of the modpack is to defeat Herobrine, the villain who is the reason why all the scary stuff happens. Quite basic lore, you can sometimes find a few notes of what happened in some structures, but they are all very basic and not that interesting.
Gameplay. The game feels very unbalanced. Anyone can kill you at anytime with a few shots. I remember trying to use shield once to deflect an attack and just died, because the mob just ignored it for some reason. So it means you have to be very prepared and also skilled to not die that easily. The spawn rates of mobs are so boosted you can't explore the caves easily. You have to dig tunnels or just hope you light the area and not die in the process. The sea creatures are insanely fast and deal high damage. You can't really explore the world at night. I don't wish to sit only at my base at nights doing nothing. The hard difficulty is not the problem here, the gameplay just becomes very and very annoying and not challenging. And remember, nothing here is scary. The sanity system is also annoying: every time you fight monsters or get wet, it decreases. You have to sit at campfires for minutes to restore it. Reaching the low sanity will spam a huge text on your screen and play loud sounds. It becomes almost impossible to play. So it's just another annoying aspect of the gameplay: you have to sit at your campfire for 5 minutes before continuing surviving at these times.
Performance. When I tried to make candles with effects, I accidentally corrupted the world and now can't join it without a crush. I don't know why it happened, so always make sure to do backups to not lose the world. Good it was just a test world but it'd be very unsatisfying to see it happen in my actual world. Also, the modpack sometimes lags for no reason and you have to restart the game. In general, the performance is okay, I haven't seen lagspikes and my fps was optimal. It is not surprising though, there are not many mods.
In conclusion, the modpack is very boring. It is probably the best attempt to create a horror modpack and it is still not scary at all. The lore is quite basic. There's not much to explore, and also it has only a few interesting mods. And in my opinion the aesthetics are unpleasant (I don't feel Minecraft should be played that way, it is not designed to be a horror at all). Just take vanilla with all the major mods, remove all the scary stuff and it becomes infinitely better, because there will be nothing to annoy you.

In the "Hello Family" quest line, there are five quests requiring you to obtain each of the five Minecraft Comes Alive guide books. I've done as much research as possible to see if they're obtainable. Oh, maybe you can craft them! You can get them as gifts! They're dungeon loot! No. They are unobtainable.
That being said, maybe you shouldn't try to 100% this one.
The modpack's goal is "to be as much frickin' fun as possible."
Fun is not what you will have if you try to 100% it, especially if you try to do so as fast as possible by beelining The Erebus' Animation Wand and by abuse of that, ProjectEX's Final Star
.
But if you stay true to the goal of the modpack, it is definitely pretty fun.
First off, this is not a true skyblock. It contains Aroma1997's Dimensional World, which allows you to skip Ex Nihilo grinding entirely. And honestly, as much as Ex Nihilo makes sense in a skyblock setting, I kinda liked this. Ex Nihilo's prevalence in skyblock modpacks were what made them boring; this modpack dared to say "screw it, add the mining dimension."
That's kinda the gist of the modpack. It is over 400 mods thrown together to make the skyblock experience as fun as possible. And if you use them correctly, it definitely accomplishes that. Tech? We got Mekanism, Thermal Expansion, Industrial Foregoing Ender IO, etc...hell, we even have NuclearCraft. Magic? Astral Sorcery, Totemic, Botania (gameplay-wise, yes, it's a tech mod, but it's magical in nature and that's what the modpack considers it), Arcane Archives (similar to Botania's case but instead of it being a tech mod it's a storage mod). Resource generation? We have Roost, Hatchery, AND Mystical Agriculture (and Fluid Cows, too, I guess). And of course, all the classic "OP" mods: Draconic Evolution, Avaritia, and the ever-controversial ProjectE and its addon ProjectEX.
It also goes all out on the whole "fun" thing. I mean, you got Cyclic, Stupid Things, Trumpet Skeletons, Smiley Traffic Cones????? There's a bunch of mods no similar modpack would ever really add. Besides Cyclic, maybe. Point is, there's a lot of fun and silly mods, but the silliness doesn't stop there. It REALLY goes all out. There's a bunch of custom sounds for countless things, like opening chests, animal noises, mobs, etc. The soundtrack is completely replaced by various Kevin MacLeod tracks, numerous of which I've never heard of. In fact, they were all catchy enough for me to want to try and identify and then compile them. So I did. https://www.youtube.com/playlistlist=PLnscpPUEja3utd_oRuVM3eUZGKHNM27jq
Tried to get as many as I could but it's very possible I could still be missing a few.
And of course, how could you be a "fun" modpack without the likes of Chance Cubes? Everyone's favorite Lucky Blocks knockoff is present in this one.
So that's what this modpack is. It's a skyblock modpack that's designed around being fun. Which I believe makes it very unique. That's not really something you see many of the major modpacks do nowadays, is focus on fun. It's all about progression and challenges and stuff. This modpack just wants you to have a good time. And for the most part, I did. But that's where my gripes come in.
The sounds and music can get VERY repetitive after playing for extended periods of time. After a certain point, "fun" just becomes "annoying." I guess because of that, the pack may have accidentally been designed to be played in shorter sessions?
Also, this IS a skyblock. So typically you're going to make a mob farm. But Loot Bags and trumpets from Trumpet Skeleton are easily one of the biggest causes for clogging up inventories. Maybe drop rates could've been toned down. Thankfully Ender IO is in the pack so filtering these things out aren't a big issue, but still a bit of a nuisance nonetheless.
Also, the quests lead you to believe that you should be doing Ex Nihilo. But then it also has Aroma1997's. So it's like, what the hell was I doing all that sifting for if I can just go mining? The pack design can be very confusing.
Very well optimized for a 400+ mod modpack, I'll say. I think it comes prepackaged with Optifine, though, and I'm sure it sprinkled in a bunch of performance mods here and there. High frames makes sense in the overworld since it's almost entirely a void aside from the starter island and clouds, but even in other dimensions I wasn't lagging very much. That is honestly the best thing I can say about this pack is how well it runs. Then again, I'm running it on 32GB of RAM with 16 allocated, so your experience may differ.
Overall, don't try to 100% this or speedrun this. Just have fun. Pretty good combination of mods. Has a lot to offer. Design is a bit confusing at times when it comes to its quests, but overall pretty good experience. Probably even more "fun" when you actually go ahead and use quest rewards, unlike me. I mean, come on. The clouds give you water essence and diamonds. Ideally I'd give this a 3.5/5, but this site doesn't allow half-stars, so I'll just give it a four.
Quirky, but fun.

All The Mods 9 is an amazing modpack, it has all the things you would expect in a great pack and then some. Making the ATM Star was a lot of fun and the option to go onto try to make the GregStar is also a fun idea. The main part of this pack that makes it 5 stars are the quests. Most of the quests in this pack are amazing! I myself have contributed to the quests by making the Alchemistry and PneumaticCraft (WIP) Quest Chapters just because I was surprised the didn't already have one. This pack has a LOT of quests. Although the ATM Star is the main goal, you can keep playing for a long time after you make one. You can try to make 2 blocks to farm infinite, then you can try to make the GregStar and even try to make 2 GregStar blocks if you've been hurt. Great modpack, would recommend.

This review is for the modern version of Alchemistry
Hi, I'm Toblerone (the guy who made the Alchemistry quests for ATM9 and 9sky), first up, I've had a lot of fun with this mod. I've had almost no problems with the currently implemented features throughout the most part of my play time, I think it's a great mod. Unfortunately I can't give this mod 5 stars because when I play (especially with other mods) it just feels incomplete. I've started adding custom compatibility recipes in All The Mods 9 and 9sky using KubeJS to make the mod feel more complete. Having these recipes apart of the base mod would easily make this rating 5 stars. Overall, great mod, could do with some more compat. Keep up the amazing work! :)

I love this modpack. It's clever, it rewards exploration (despite being a fairly small custom map), it uses spatial cells really well, and it's a lot of fun. There are many items to collect (several trophies) that are hidden around the entire map. It's also good at explaining the various mods it uses through quests. This was first modpack with a storyline questline I played, and it remains my absolute favorite.
That being said, there are some issues. While it has Tinker's, you can't make any smelter and can only get metal tool parts from random chests. I found this very frustrating. If you go with the grave mod instead of KeepInventory, it's hard to get your corpse back - and given there are unique items, it's more important than usual to get those items back. Finally, there are optional achievements - and a couple of them are just a huge grindfest. (Or, more accurately, an afk fest.) There's not really a good place to build or decorate - you live in a precreated structure.
Even with those small issues, this remains a fantastic modpack. I think it's also pretty stylish - a lot of thought and care went into the map as a while as well as each spatial cell location. I highly recommend it if you like questing packs. Skip if you prefer kitchen sink packs, building packs, or packs with a lot of freedom.

To get the full features of the gameplay, put the ring of seven curses on from Enigmatic Legacy. This is a must for this pack, and you will have the time of your life. The recipes are challenging, the mobs are truly difficult, and the quests are great. This is a play-at-your-own-speed pack. If you want an additional challenge, play this pack in Hardcore mode. The loot table is fair and not overpowered. The dev invested a lot of time in this pack, which is not finished yet. I have played multiple packs by the same dev and I enjoyed all of them and the progression.

I'm very picky about my post-apocalyptic games, so I honestly wasn't expecting much from this modpack, using Minecraft as a base. I was quite wrong!
This modpack ended up an excellent experience. It made my little loot goblin heart flutter. Each building - each room, in fact - has specific drops appropriate to the location. A restaurant has food loot, a hospital medical stuff, an office building technical stuff. You don't have to craft much of the basics - there's often a place you can loot to get what you need.
That being said, the recipes are fairly well changed. A bit more Create was required than I like, but overall a good balance of Create and Immersive Engineering. My biggest complaint is that some items were gated behind rare or end-game only locations - some of the Refined Storage stuff, for instance, and even the Drawers Drawer Controller I didn't get 'til almost end game.
There are some downsides - for one, I sometimes had bad performance, the FPS dropping quite a lot. Second, some items were a little too common in loot (the golden apples for curing infections and the food - I never once cooked anything for myself, there was so much food loot). Third, I really didn't like that the Spice of Life count reset when you died, without resetting the list of what you'd eaten, so you were limited in how many extra hearts you could get. Fourth, I also started the loooong oil crafting line but ended up not needing it at all. It was a lot of work for what ended up being zero payoff. Finally, there are imo too many guns that are too similar. I really felt like they should have cut the number of guns in half.
However, overall it was a really fun experience. It took me about 80 hours on normal difficulty to get the final cure crafted, and I spent a lot of that time building my base and looting for the fun of it. I didn't finish every quest, but I finished the majority of them.
If you like fighting in Minecraft, this is an excellent modpack for you. If you hate combat, you're going to hate this one. If you love looting abandoned but still dangerous buildings, this is again perfect for you.
