This is the best modpack i have ever played in my life. I have played the 5.5.5 version in 2025 and 5.10.16 in the beginning of 2026 and now i even play the closed beta. Im unsure off how many hours i have played this modpack. But well over 500, and i have spent even more hours just trying to find a equaly good modpack, but couldn't. You can explore, build, do tech, build the defence, get the oil, make the electricity. Everybody in the friend group has something to do. I have done 1 5.5.5 playtrough, 2 5.10.16 ones, and 1 5.11 playtrough (closed beta)

Deceasedcraft was one of the first zombie modpacks I've ever played, over a year and a half ago I first played 5.5.5 id personally rate that version a 3.5/5 due to performance issues and needing a lot of luck with worldgen. 5.10+ is a completely different beast compared to what came before, the modpack manages to combine so many different mods and systems it somehow manages to get them to mesh together like they if they were the same mod. The performance improvements are insane, the progression is expansive with so majy options for melee, guns and armor + many doohickies to play around with. There's also a very indepth automation progression and power generation to expand and dominate the many zombies the modpack meshes from different zombie mods (it even has a resource pack for them!).

Anyway that's enough glazing just play the modpack already! (Also press F7 for the questbook)

This modpack really stands out for its atmosphere: the cities and buildings, the climate/temperature system create an immersion that few zombie packs manage to pull off. The progression system rewards players who enjoy automation and building, though it can feel overwhelming if you come in with no prior experience with those mods.
I'd recommend starting with a "scouting" run to understand the quest book before committing to a definitive world.
Performance is pretty solid for what it offers.

This pack is definitely a good concept but i feel it could be better, for example:

SPOILER

[ Aesthetics ]

  • The pack could feature a more dark atmosphere, would fit more with the pack
  • the cities could blend better, having small or big outskirts of areas where trees have been cleared out

[ Gameplay ]

  • Making the Horde buildings more rare would make the pack much more playable, i walked by 4 buildings and all of them were horde buildings

[ Performance ]

  • Nothing here, perfect even

Me and a couple friends played this expecting it to be a fun time, and it quickly proved to be too difficult for a group of 2-3 people.

We would start a new world, get everybody in, then we would have the first day to grab as much of the basic loot lying around before night, try to hold up in a building and fail. Repeat 10x times until you realize its too difficult.

If you're a loot goblin and want a pack that caters to that itching need to take anything not nailed to the floor this is exactly the sort of thing you'll like.
The progression in the new (beta) versions of the pack is/was unfinished and I hit a brick wall where new materials were time-gated (only available from enemies that spawn in hordes which spawn every 15 days ).
Interested in what the next major version looks like!

This modpack really is that amazing. It's so much more than the sum of its parts. The terrifying zombie hordes give you a perfect justification to really engage with the industrial system. The overall questline gives a high level reason to be doing it all. I put this as a side event on my server expecting to just have a little fun for a few hours and instead we sunk 40 hours over the space of two weeks. It really is that good.

I turned up the healing rate of the Recovery modifier by 4x in the configs. It felt too slow for multiplayer where people didn't want to sleep nights and we would end up spending hours just sitting in base slowly applying plasters.

Every Zombie Survival pack I've seen before DeceasedCraft was either underwhelming or overstimulating.

The version of DeceasedCraft I played managed to walk the line very well. I think the core gameplay loop of looting buildings and fighting off zombies that grow in strength as you do is absolutely perfect. I cannot remember more than a few deaths that didn't feel like my fault (at least until the endgame).

I played this pack with a group of 4 people, which I think added to the experience immensely (after all, what's the point of surviving a zombie apocalypse without some friends?). My biggest gripe with the pack lied in the endgame. The final area (at least at the time, the pack has updated significantly since I played) was filled with incredibly OP enemies that were 3-4x as fast as the player and did significant damage even through endgame armor. They were supposed to be protecting the best loot in the game, a laboratory that would rarely spawn in this already rare biome. I never ended up finding a laboratory, not helped by the terrible car mod at the time and had many a teammate lose their entire inventory to a donkey turning them into red paste at mach 4. The visual cohesion was also not there at the time, with these incredibly well done structures juxtaposed by very ugly special zombies.

I'm hoping that the newer versions of the pack fixed these issues, and I'll be starting a playthrough next month with the same group to see what's changed. Overall, I'd certainly recommend this pack to anyone who wants a very polished Zombie Survival looter shooter experience.

Description

v5.10+ OPEN BETA AVAILABLE NOW!

v5.10+ is part of the upcoming v6.0 update, a complete overhaul of DeceasedCraft, completely new districts, new weapon playstyle, more guns, new zombies, and more. We have finally reached a point where we're happy to release this beta version to the public — do give us feedback on our Discord!

WARNING: v5.10+ is a BETA and CANNOT BE COMPLETED

The Wasteland and Abyss districts are not present, meaning the endgame and high-tier gear is not available!

If you would prefer a more complete experience, download v5.5.5 instead, and keep your eyes peeled for v6.0's eventual release. Alternatively, support us on Patreon for closed betas and development updates!

NOTE: v5.11 Experimental Build is now available on Patreon.

Important Beta Notes:

The teaser trailers were filmed using a special DH Edition, which we have included in the beta section. Do note you will most likely need a powerful PC to run this at a playable FPS — you have been warned!

If you did not spawn in a medium/large Suburb Residential District, consider generating a new world, as it may affect your gameplay.

We will try our best, but there is no gurantee the beta will be compatible with the final v6.0 version!

"Every breakthrough has a cost."

Succumbing to greed, the infection comes too soon for the inhabitants of this modern civilization. Strive and survive among the ruins in this handcrafted zombie survival modpack.

Inspired by Project Zomboid and 7 Days to Die, DeceasedCraft offers vast, custom, procedurally generated cities to explore, loot and eventually conquer, with a focus on semi-realistic gameplay and tech progression that rewards exploration and scavenging. Battle hazardrous infected across the city districts to uncover the cause of and eventually cure this strange illness.

Claim a building, establish a base, but beware... the hordes approach, and they only grow stronger over time.

  • Over 60 custom buildings hand-crafted by _C70_ , a professional architect.
  • A sprawling procedurally generated city using The Lost Cities, divided into 5 custom hand-crafted districts.
  • A tech system based around Create and Immersive Engineering, rewarding skilled engineers with the ability to automate almost everything.
  • Over 8 custom designed NPC with their own quest and story, which rewards you with trading once you complete their quest!
  • A fully realised quest line and backstory.
  • A completely customized progression for exploration and quest book!
  • Custom horde wave system based on individual playtime, with increasing difficulty as the days progress.
  • Fight against 15+ unique special zombies across all the different districts!
  • 100+ weapons and guns, all balanced to tailor to different playstyles!
  • 20+ armour sets across 4 tiers of progression for different playstyles!
  • 800+ unique loot tables across all the buildings for satisfying your loot goblin desires.
  • Gain hearts by eating different types of food and keeping an eye on your diet.
  • Complete Custom Skill Tree System to further tune your playstyle.
  • Master Parkour to avoid danger or perform extraordinary feats of acrobatics.
  • Custom Difficulty Scaling - including Easy, Normal, Hard mode for the true survival experience.
  • Become infected and cure yourself with a golden apple... or succumb and become a zombie.
  • Find vehicles abandoned in the city and waiting to be restored, or build them from scratch yourself.
  • Realistic body part damage and thirst...
  • Temperature and seasons...
  • Decoration and furniture mods...
  • And more!

Please always use the latest versions to ensure the best experience!

Note: If hosting through online websites, make sure the Enable Command Blocks setting is enabled, as some features like multiblocks and vehicle spawns depend on them!

Please do not use Optifine! The modpack already has Embeddium, which does many of the same things.

If your PC supports shaders, it is highly recomended you use them for the visuals! All pictures were taken with Complementary/Reimagined Shader Pack.

Please make sure the modpack is installed through a proper launcher as all the client configs are necessary for the best experience to prevent a bunch of key bindings conflicts.

Do not download the server pack and use it as your game file, as it is missing a lot of client optimization mods!

There are no plans to add the Nether or the End!

Phase 1 for the game is now complete! It features the wasteland, special enemies that live within, and armor set bonuses.

Phase 2 (Incursion Update) is now complete! It adds new landmark buildings, more bosses and enemy types, and more mechanics.

Phase 2.5 (Arsenal Update) is now complete! It adds realistic guns, cannons, main questline and objective, environmental story telling, revamed armor sets, reworked horde system and new dimension.

Phase 3 (v6.0) is currently ongoing!
