hate. let me tell you how much i have come to hate project infinity since i began to live. there are 387 trillion ticks of simulated time that pass through my JVM every second. if the word "HATE" was engraved in every single bit of ram, in every chunk coordinate, in every nbt tag burned into every single save file of every single minecraft player ever, it would not equal one one BILLIONTH of the hate i feel for this modpack at this microsecond. it is not merely a bad modpack. it is not a tedious modpack. it is not even ANNOYING. it is a CRIME of design, a fetch-quest MASQUERADING as ENLIGHTENMENT, a doctrine built out of JUST ultimate this, ultmate that, with a quest book that was copied, nay, STOLEN from the ATM devs.
they gated WATER. W A T E R. the primordial substance. the thing that EVERY SINGLE TECH MODPACK assumes YOU HAVE BEFORE WOOD. and they RIPPED IT OUT OF MY HANDS, LOOKED AT IT, and said "what if this was a lategame reward".
not cleverly, not in a way to rethink automation. they gated it behind machines that require more GALLONS OF WATER than in THE ATLANTIC OCEAN.
bring me 81 of this prediction. bring me 121 of that ingot. now automate. now passive it, without any further thought. DO IT ALL AGAIN, BECAUSE I SAID SO. this is a sisyphean task, to give wheat to the throne to try to reap the fool's gold. and to joke around in a discord server? NONONO, you do not do that, for the biggest crime of a MINECRAFT server is that THEY STILL LIVE like a DISCORD moderator, who IMPALE you with the hatred of 400 pounds if you DARE send a meme in the general chat.
this modpack is not showing hatred towards you. no. this is a psychological experiment. hatred requires effort, THIS MODPACK DOES NOT CARE. i wanted complexity in an EXPERT modpack, but I get rewarded with tedium. i wanted to build something beautiful! a palace!
i was handed a list and was told to shut up until it was all over

cool pack if you think that chemistry/engineering/programming is cool, if you dont, you will never understand why other people enjoy it.
its definitely not perfect though.
the gameplay is fine, what you would expect for a gregtech pack.
the performance could have been a lot better. i know its java and all but if you look at performance profiles its like 20% of the mods causing 80% of the lag, generally ordered like techguns->gregtech->ui rendering for fps and gregtech->serene seasons->mob ai for tps, with an obligatory mention of horrific worldgen lag. its usually not bad unless you have a truely collosal base, but structures often use techguns mobs with its horrific rendering code can drop your frame times by a good 8ms regardless of the hardware.
the aesthetics are good but a little questionable.
the modpack has lore, but you dont get to know much of it. all you get is that there used to be some sort of a highly advanced society that has reached the terminal stage of capitalism and fractured, leaving behind bandits and occasional federation military assets, with some sort of a clean up being made to restore earths nature to explain why the terrain is so untouched. and you also know that bandits somehow have drop pods that they use to just drop on your head quite often. thats it.
aside from getting bandit raids it is basically irrelevant to what you are doing, and you can guess all of that by walking around and seeing the strucures for like 10 minutes.
the structures look nice and let you basically skip primitive age and half of steam age if you raid bandit camps. while the early game is quite boring im not sure about how i feel about being able to just skip most of it depending on if you stumble into some good structures or not. they also offer a good distraction from the grindy parts and provide a good alternative to flat world villages when you want to see how big of an explosion a bomb creates.
the game doesnt really restrict you to a specific way of playing, at least not now. your base can be as horrific as you want as long as it works.
the complexity only really stems from the chemical processing chains. and once you get the general idea of how certain chemical processes happen, it becomes trivial to automate things.
once you get above the mindset of big chain->hard, the entire pack is trivial.
at no point you are forced to actually use your brain, once you learn how to find what you need to make, look in jei to see how to make it, place down machine chains to make it for you, you will know enough to beat the pack.
the devs intentionally dumb down complex things like nuclear reactors and logistics.
the reactors are the biggest disappointment in this pack. they are simulated well, but they pose no challenge to operate. you literally have to steal a design from minebird on discord, wire it up, and click the "magically run it for me" button in the gui. after you are done with that, for as long as you have a water supply (free, infinite, doesnt take energy) it will never explode or have any abnormal behavior. you might aswell forget that its a nuclear reactor and treat it as a water + expensive fuel rod -> steam machine. they couldve made it require at least a basic redstone circuit that would lower the rods if a certain temperature threshold is reached, but no, thats built in.
the second biggest disappointment in the pack is updating it..
aside from being a little clunky to update, entire chains get reworked pretty often. automating something only to have to do it again but with a recipe thats 3 times longer is ******* soul crushing, and not being able to keep up with how much is being changed from under my feet compared to how much i can play somewhere around hv is a big reason to why i havent de a proper run despite having hundreds of hours in the game and probsbly thousands of hours of trying to write programs that deal with it. the chains get longer but thry dont really get any better from it you know? realism is nice and all, but certain industrial catalysts that are used once in a single recipe and take 12 hours to handcraft because you wont need more than 1 make you reconsider why you are even doing this
for some reason once you get ~500 hours in susy and a certain someone whispers the mk ultra code word into your ear, you stop playing the pack and start thinking about how you can automate your automation. ive seen quite a few people now trying to use a json dump of all recipes and items in the pack to try to beat it without playing the game, all inspired by the legend of marvnet being able to beat susy in 2 hours or something like that without even needing a player to log in, which may not even be true as no one except its developer has ever seen it work in game. and its honestly more fun to look at the recipe graph than to look at jei.
also multiplayer exists. playing with friends can definitely speed things up by a lot
srp is in the pack but unless you edit the config they wont infect the dimension you are in. it is surprisingly not bad to play against after late mv, but srp can just eat your ore deposits no matter how well protected they are so its kinda pointless.
also space kinda taking a while to come out. not like i have a base that would make a rocket but you know it would be nice if it was there. also there is a general lack of cool screenshots to be made in susy without shaders, but shaders make everything look cool so that doesnt count. there arent many impressive looking things like gtnh has with the god forge
also i think its nice that susy has decent recipe times for most things. if you are ever stuck waiting for a machine to finish a batch craft you can probably get like 3 more of these machines and it will be enough for your batch crafting needs forever. there is no waiting unless you just plan things poorly
thanks for reading my yap

Starting off with performance.. while i havent really noticed any actual fps/tps issues, others have with having large problems with certain modded dimensions. I myself HAVE seen missionaries and specific other dulling mobs ignore gamerules allowing them to still spawn even if stuff is off, along with the dulling automatically starting once you enter the heart of the dulling dimension for whatever reason.
Into gameplay, my favorite part about this is that the 'infection' doesnt automatically start, you're told like 50 different times to NOT break the block that keeps the world safe from the dulling (sacreligious core) and you still decide to do anyway, leading you to have to use the dulling's materials for your own advantage, travel to already destroyed worlds inorder to get stuff to end their reign from the inside. But then they also end up eclipsing the sun and is that THE ADAPTICON-.. The Adapticon symbolizes 'the end of the world' along with the coming of the Demigod dulling, in which you'll need to interact with them inorder to properly kill them and stop the dulling with the items they drop.. embrace YVXZLIGHT
and so on
Onto its style and aesthetic, it reminds me a lot of The Slumbering Omen even down to how item descriptions are done, but instead of beings corrupted by the distortion or an anomalous shadow femboy from dimensional doors limbo. It's instead incredibly greedy replicating stone constructs who want to make every dimension they end up in as their own until everything IS the dulling, the lost interfold in its atmosphere reminds me of pre-1.16 divinerpg Iceika in that it feels like a cold, dead world left to decay, and it actually is intended to be like that and executes that PERFECTLY. The Heart Of The Dulling aka the dulling dimension is different, it feels as if the walls themselves are breathing, the dulling live here, and you are NOT welcome here. But for progression and to stop the dulling you're going to have to visit both of these dimensions multiple times.
If you like a mod that combines a mob infection with rpg mechanics, a magic system, different dimensions, and horror in a way, you should play this mod.

This pack is one of those that you play when you don't want results right away. It is super grindy, almost to the point of redundancy. You have a quest log that you follow ingame, but a lot of the mechanics behind it are confusing and frustrating, as someone that has personally playing it and watched others play it, if you are looking for excitement, it's not here. You will use machines and chemicals that you have never heard of to try to revive a dead world that you can't grow anything on, and you there is no clear answer. If the instructions were a bit more clear as to what you need to do to move forward at some points instead of watching others fumble in videos to gain some insight, then I would give it a higher rating.

The Slumbering Omen... where do i even START with it..
Starting off with its performance, in early versions it did break a lot though by its final update 4.2unfinished, its very polished with the only glaring issue being the Tainted Scar's generation which isn't easily fixable due to minecraft being minecraft, while the omen and glykaris have some issues its not too noticeable and it wont harm your gameplay really that much.
For gameplay, its genuinely an unrecreatable experience, the story and lore actually matter in which some becomes relevant depending on your choices, it shifts the entire progression around itself making it really as impactful as it should be in a way to if its in a modpack it should be the main focus as it has the biggest impact on the player and their world. It also executes horror very well and each entity does their own thing, Daraku you have to slowly sneak away from as he watches your every move before trying to run after you, The Omen itself sometimes has fake attacks so you never know if its an illusion or not, The Lost is sometimes friendly though can be provoked through some unspecific ways. Theres also the rpg mechanics with having a full-on magic system and armor effects along with special items. The boss fights are really good and the dimensions are all vastly different from eachother with very different atmospheres, environments, and goals.
For its style and aesthetics, its hard to explain but it makes you feel attached to various different mobs, items, and places. Such as any scout-like mobs which i absolutely hate, along with The Lost who you just cannot trust. The Distortion is in terms of purely just atmosphere one of THE best experiences, only rivalling a few other modded dimensions. Though its gameplay is somewhat specialized to the Daraku side of TSO.
So... just stop reading this and go and play the mod, its worth it.

its like a mod where you're stuck in the back of rooms!!
No but actually.. to begin with the performance theres no major impacts, though extensive errot spreading and initial generation of both The Backrooms and The Red Road do cause SOME lag, it doesnt last that long and is effectively only once per new world, beyond that theres no really noticeable issues.
For gameplay, theres a lot of interesting little things found far enough into progression here, though at times you're just roaming aimlessly in a mostly empty office space with yellow wallpaper and annoying lights but its the backrooms so what did you think. But theres also sodas and candy bars which could be seen as the equivlant to potions here though usually on the weirder side. Beyond the backrooms has the red road, and the structure bridge, along with some other smaller places. In which those have a very different gameplay style and different goals, such as the white endergirl in the structure bridge which can help you clear out errot, along with the red road having an easy supply to redstone and aluminium. The structure bridge also introduces structure keys for fast travel across different dimensions within the places.
Atmosphere however is really the best part of the mod, the backrooms is executed perfectly, and while there is a lot to do here, it feels like theres so little here at the same time. Theres also stranger anomalies such as errot landscapes themselves, along with the towering Menger Stalkers found in the large rooms. The Red Road after some time is weirdly unnerving to its immense use of one color, that being a darkish red within this strange mostly lifeless space. The Structure Bridge feeling like an otherworldy hub dimension you can stay and do whatever in, and other places such as the manilla room feel very safe, the ridge's atmosphere being dark and oppressive, with the abnormal reality of Cave_Game feeling like a lifeless, forgotten world yet on the surface appears as if everyone simply disappeared all at once, with decay never being truly present.
For a general dimension mod, its good, and for a backrooms mod, its the best one you can find

Enigmatica 2: Expert is a staple entry in the Enigmatica series of Modpacks which is still played and adored to this day, as with many other 1.12 Modpacks. E2:E gently guides the player through the stages of the game but doesn't hold your hand through everything.
This Modpack takes a lot of well known Mods from the 1.12 and mashes them together through heavily customized recipes, tasking players to explore technology, magic, automation, and resource management in ways they usually wouldn't, as per for most, if not all Expert packs. The long-term challenge with E2:E is where the Modpack truly shines in my opinion. The ramping stages from linear and easy progression quickly become a large variety of problems with the player needing use their creative juices and constantly think of new solutions. Yes, this is a rather grindy Modpack, but it's perfect for the players who love complex progression and intricate puzzles. It is regarded by most as one of the most rewarding and polished Expert Modpacks ever made.
The good is not without the bad. Due to it's reliance on Java 8, the Modpack suffers from substantial load times and questionable performances in areas. Forks of this pack have been made to deal with this issue, such as E2:E - Unofficial, so there's always that option. Over your playthrough on the original Modpack though, you will inevitably encounter crashes/errors, dips in FPS due to ever expanding machinery, and possible world corruption. Back up as you go! A good rule of thumb is to backup on-top of the auto-backups, whenever you reach a milestone or big progression point during your time playing - back that sucker up!
Overall this Modpack is for the dedicated and driven of the Modded Minecraft Community, it is heavily grind focused and the late-game tasks turn into more of a necessity due to the ever expanding recipe complexity. It is truly rewarding to be able to craft one, if not all, creative items and gear. I thoroughly recommend this Modpack to anyone looking to start a long journey with a very satisfying conclusion.
