The ancient city portal is a matter of great discussion in the minecraft community - and this mod seeks to show us what lies beyond it with the Otherside.

This new dimension explores the home of the sculk, and tries to create an atmosphere on a similar level as the Vanilla Nether - dreary, creepy and hostile.

The mod is cool in concept, but is wasted potential. It suffers from illogical progression - To access the portal we need to kill a warden, and said warden is actually stronger than anything in the otherside?
The mod features a powerful boss in its own right, the stalker. The boss can be found in a hidden structure in the Otherside, but can also just randomly spawn from pots in the ancient city? It can be used to make one of two items which are of great importance - an armored elytra.
So there's really only one more item to get from this mod. What's the reward for navigating this desolate sculk wasteland? A transmitter which allows you to access a storage container from anywhere. Pretty lame, in my opinion.

The dimension itself also is just a bit mundane - vast swathes of land without much to do, only one or two interesting natural phenomena - and a variety of building blocks being the main allure. It suffers from a lack of content, and is comparable to pre 1.16 nether.

If you like good progression, game balance, a cohesive theme, any form of logic or thought put into your modpacks, this is not for you.

Despite the fact that this RPG has custom mods, it still feels worse than a kitchen sink you could cook up in ten minutes. The sum of its parts are vastly inferior to the array of good mods included in it, which barely manage to salvage any reputation the pack has.

It also markets itself as an "RPG" without understanding what an RPG even is. This is a mere stat check of a modpack.

At just 2% of its intended goal, dungeon now loading has already cemented itself as the pinnacle of Adventure and exploration mods.

Through just two vast and creative takes on existing underexplored dungeons, it possesses enough gameplay to last hours - through exploration, tricky yet engaging puzzles, and a rewarding boss at the end of each dungeon.

This might seem generic to you, because a bunch of other mods also do the same, but this mod has a different feel to it. I don;t; know if it's just me, maybe I glaze it too much, but I feel like it understands the systems the base game has in place, and treats it with respect - naturally progressing aspects of the game in both subtle and prideful manners.

Take the Labyrinth, one of two structures. It is truly labyrinthine, with numerous spawners (as it takes inspiration from a monster room), prison cells, maze like puzzles, loot and geared out mobs. It may feel like an overwhelming slog, but the rooms are all handcrafted, the puzzles related to "durite quellers" (central theme of the labyrinth) are actually pretty nifty, the spawner rewards are competitive for the stage in the game, and the boss with its signature OST is fun, along with the thoughtful multiplayer and respawn mechanics.

Even though the first dungeon received a fantastic new overhaul to match the quality of the second, the second blows it out of the water. I would say that the mod is worth it just to experience and interact with pre-existing systems of the game in a way one might not have thought of.

And the craziest part, for me, is the scope. 2%?? You mean you'll pump out 98 more masterpieces like this?? If it's not the best mod in this category right now, I have no doubt it will be in the future.

For a mod that seeks to add mobs to the game, alex's mobs is second to none. At a glance, it adds everything from the realistic to the fantastical.

When playing with the mod, it's easy to get lost in the sheer amount of content present. Almost every single of the dozens of new mobs added have detailed behaviors and functions. Populating nearly every nook and cranny of the world, the mobs liven the place up, provide new friends to tame or foes to fight, new gear to acquire and resources to obtain, as well as one boss in the End.

One thing after playing with this mod extensively - it is nigh impossible to play without configs. Whether it be adjusting spawn weights to compensate for regular mobs or other modded mobs, tweaking spawns since those goddamn mosquitoes won't stop harassing me, or just causing noticeable lag spikes upon loading new chunks and simply playing around, I can't give this mod anything higher than a 3.5. Additionally, despite being a touch above the Vanilla mobs, the mod has not updated in nearly two years (the creator is probs js busy), and the last few updates have left a bit to be desired.

Good mod, adds a marvelous menagerie, but can be rough around the edges. Worth a download, but I think you can find better alternatives for the real and the fantastical.

Alex's caves prioritizes exploration, creativity and trying to reintroduce a sense of wonder int he player - as if we were playing the game for the first time over again.

The mod is gargantuan, adding six detailed, spectacular and exhilarating cave biomes to the world - gigantic underground pockets of the world. Each one has a distinct theme, with unique aesthetics, osts, inhabitants and resources.

The cave biomes are rare, and require an exploration map and usually a multi thousand block journey to come across. Each biome uses its theme to the fullest, such as magnetic caves including attractive and repulsive tools, armor, pulleys/conveyors and even a gauntlet. The drops are really fun to play around with - and the caves are worth exploring.

From the time I've spent in the mod, its evident a lot of thought, time and effort went into it; effort which isn't wasted since the experience is some of the most fun I've had.

The unique aesthetic is incompatible with most shaders, and I did face some issues with mob spawns and behavior, especially on servers. But when it does work, it is a blast. This is a mod that deserves a place on most, if not all, fantasy/exploration adventurers' modpacks.

Primal adds a small, curated, and high quality selection of real world animals into Minecraft. It boasts impressive visuals, logical gameplay, as well as good variety across all biomes.

When it comes to enhancing the feel of the world, Primal does a fantastic job at making the ecosystem feel more alive. Alongside the new mobs, it also tweaks a few animals from the game such as the rabbit and dolphin, such that vanilla animals do not feel out of place.

Unfortunately, the mod lacks a good amount of content. Not to say that it isn't worth your time, it almost certainly is for those who want to spruce up their world with fauna, but there isn't much to do with the fauna. Each creature has one or two usually mundane features.

If I had to compare it to Alex's Mobs, what I would consider its competitor, I would say Alex's mobs takes quantity of content, but Primal has much higher quality under its belt.

A fantastic mod which implements the creation and usage of magic in a simple yet engaging way. There's tonnes of different spells and artifacts to help you feel like a true mage.

The assets all look beautiful too, a personal favourite of mine being the inscryption table. The armour sets are all fabulous as well. Spellcasting is smooth and efficient. I have faced no performance issues, and my device is trash.

It suffers a bit from lack of enemies to fight, as one can quickly snowball and amass immense power. There are a couple of really high quality dungeons with a boss each, but that's the extent of it. Additionally, it suffers from breadth over depth, as there are really only a bunch of combat spells; utility spells are few and far between.

For what it is, it's really fun.

The mod is exceptional at what it does - providing a challenge in the form of bosses.

The 8 bosses it adds are all high quality, far better than the base game, and give incentive for exploration, gearing up, combat and learning their moves. There is no laziness with this mod, everything is executed in detail, with well thought out movesets which work in minecraft. The fantastic OST composed for each of them is just the cherry on top.

The rewards you get are also worth the hassle, and are an incentive to fight the bosses again - due to the variety of crafting recipes. The sheer amount of content makes the mod worth it.

A few downsides persist - spawn rates of a few mobs are too high and may hamper performance (Especially in open oceans), and some structures are (while breathtaking builds in their own right) simply jarring in the landscape. None of this detracts from the quality of what the mod intends to add, though, and it is definitely one of, if not the best, combat/mob mods available.

The mod is exceptional at what it does - providing a challenge in the form of bosses.

The 8 bosses it adds are all high quality, far better than the base game, and give incentive for exploration, gearing up, combat and learning their moves. A genuinely fantastic mod with an immense amount of work put into it. If you asked me a few months ago, I’d probably have ranked it a bit lower, but the recent updates have completely raised the bar, cementing it as an incredible mid-to-late game challenge for any exploration pack.

The centerpiece of the new update is a sprawling, spectacular dungeon structure that manages to feel massive while integrating seamlessly into Minecraft's world generation. The new building blocks look awesome, the basic enemies pose a genuine, mechanical challenge rather than just being health sponges, and the loot is incredibly fun to play around with, especially the unique boss drops.

Speaking of the bosses, the star of the show features some of the most fluid animations I have ever seen in the modding scene, paired with an absolute banger of an OST that makes the fight feel truly cinematic.

The only reason it doesn't get a perfect five stars is due to a slight lack of polish on the Nether boss, which still feels a bit underwhelming compared to the absolute masterclass of the overworld content. However, the hype for this mod is entirely real. The creator is actively working on re-polishing the Nether content alongside the highly anticipated "Immortal" boss, a project that's been in development for over a year now.

It's rough around a single edge, but EEEAB's Mobs is rapidly shaping up to be an absolute titan of the category. Definite recommend.
