If 2.5 is "Mixed" then that's definitely how I feel about this mod. It definitely works, just not how I'd like it. I don't understand why it is so ubiquitous beyond other map solutions just not really existing for several features here. By default (as it often appears) it is very in your face and loud when you open it the first time. The visual choices I frankly just do not mesh with (GUI, appearance of map, default settings on those, etc), and it feels slow to use. The benefit of using Journey over another map solution is that it is widely used and has compatibilities and add-ons that other maps do not, but I do not like the map itself.

This is a mod I have mixed feelings about. It is useful for development, and has some pretty useful features like fancy waypoints, map-to-png export, loaded chunks mapper, etc. But at the same time, It's held back by some bad design decisions and poor performance/ bugs.
Every time you open the world map for the first time in a world, you get hit with a wall of donation links. I honestly dislike this sort of thing, so it loses a star for that.
Performance also takes a hit, and the mod can straight up crash the world when used with certain mods (e.g Warpdrive. The constant ship jumping forces constant mapping updates, which leaves ghost ships everywhere in the map, and just causes massive amounts of lag). Loses another star for that.
I don't ever actually use Journeymap for survival gameplay. I recommend using Xearos or, my personal favorite, Antique Atlas.

Privacy Policy

Legacy Versions of JourneyMap for minecraft 1.12.2 and below use ModInfo to send a single anonymous packet to Google Analytics when the mod is loaded for the very first time.  This provides the authors with very basic stats about what versions of JourneyMap and Minecraft to support, along with your display size and preferred language. No personally-identifying data is used or tracked.  See ModInfo for information on how to opt-out.

 

JourneyMap

JourneyMap is a client+server mod for Forge, Fabric, and Quilt which maps your Minecraft world in real-time as you explore. You can view the map in a web browser or in-game as a Minimap or full-screen.

Note: Server currently is for controlling journeymap features from the server, no mapping is done on the server at this time. JourneyMap needs to be on the client if anything is to be displayed.

Server and Client Optional means, Clients can connect to servers that do not have JourneyMap on the server side, Clients without JourneyMap can connect to servers that have the mod installed on it.
