I went into this pack super excited, it has some really great (new) mods in it, including Alex's Caves and Mobs, the new release of Aether, End Remastered, Create, Botania etc. But honestly I found the pack a bit of a mess and gave up before I could get too into it. It always worries me with modpacks when you do your first bit of mining, and find 4 different versions of silver ore from 4 different mods, that's one of the first and easiest things to fix if you're making a modpack in my opinion..

The quests are all over the place, some are extremely lazy; collect every type of sapling, collect every type of seed... like seriously? Quite a few quests have typos, some categories have a crazy number of quests and others have almost none (even though you'd expect them), and I have no idea what the 'Story Campaign' is, I certainly didn't find any 'Story' in any of the quest categories. The modpack was also quite unstable, I played for probably 8-10 hours and it hard crashed every couple of hours or so.

There's some genuinely awesome mods in here, but the pack feels fairly minimal effort, I might pull the mods out and make my own custom pack with it though.

This IS the ultimate Expert Pack.
Split into multiple parts, some exploration in the beginning, then basic tech, advanced tech, magic, and then basically endgame, this pack slowly builds up. The pack goes throught all the well-known (and some less well-known) mods and uses pretty much all mechanics! But don't worry, if you are not a pro at every single mod. The questbook guides you through all of them with all the details needed! So in theory, even someone completely new to modded could complete this pack (even though some experience with an easier expert pack is recommended imo).
But yes, this is a hard pack. It is encouraged to automated everything! Well, not everything, but a lot! Mods and items build upon other mods and items and are intertwined so intensely, that it feels very complex (you might have seen the recipe tree in the big panel on the modpack page). But it is all made to feel organic with the 600+ custom items that are added. Some are ported items from past versions of mods, some complete a set where one item was missing, some combine features of different mods and some are just for gating.
Speaking of gating, the progression feels good! You don't get too op in the first few chapters of the questbook, but you are never underpowered against any mobs or need to grind anything for multiple hours. If you can get a new item manually, the ability to automate said item comes either pretty quickly afterwards or you are not going to need more than twenty of it.
Lastly, I need to mention the community on the Divine Journey Discord Server. There are people there who have played through the pack multiple times that are still on that server and help out other people. There is a forum filled with tips, tricks, setups, and explanations, if you ever get stuck on one.
And as of writing this, the pack is still tweaked and balanced every now and then, so any balance issue that comes up can be resolved.

That was the good part, now to the less good part. With all the automation you will want to do, it is quite resource intense. This can be mitigated if you spread out your base horizontally instead of vertically, but that isn't the most aesthetic way for everyone. So beware of that. Other than that, there is nothing bad I can say.

In conclusion: Better expert pack than FTB Infinity Evolved Expert, organic progression, complex and challenging recipes and recipe trees, beautiful custom items to tie mods together. If you like expert style packs, you're going to love this one!

I don't think it is an exaggeration to say that this modpack has had the most work put into it out of any modpack and it shows. The questbook is extensive and very helpful and there are a ton of custom recipes carefully chosen which provide a cohesive experience unrivalled by other modpacks. The amount of content is insane which means you will be able to play this modpack for literal years without running out of content, even if you primarily focus on progressing. This means if you are the kind of person who feels you have to complete a modpack, this is probably not for you. If you on the other hand learn to focus on the journey rather than the destination, find yourself with entertainment for years from this modpack.

Despite being for 1.7.10 it still recieves plenty of updates which expands new content and significantly improves performance. The amount of work put into it is insane. For example have GTNH been able to work with new java versions which has significantly smoothed out lag spikes I had before. There is even talk of backporting sodium to GTNH which if done could improve performance significantly and be only another testament as to dedication of the developers.

The only negative I have is that I personally find the aesthetics to be a bit limiting. While shaders work well on GTNH and you can make beautiful builds in it, I do find the block pallette to be a bit limiting in comparison to modern minecraft. With the addition of in GTNH 2.4 hempcrete and svavelstone, there are plenty of excellent building blocks to build in modern and futuristic styles, but if you like me would like to build in a more fantasy, medieval or industrial style, there aren't that many good blocks to choose from. To give a sense of what you can make I have included a couple of screenshots from my world.

This was my Second modded playthrough that I went in depth with. I played Sevtech: Ages of the sky beforehand for 100+ hours and also skyfactoy 3 but only for a few hours . I also want to say I haven't completed the pack (and don't plan to) and have only made it to Age 4 at galactic craft. So, take the review with a grain of salt. The first 3 ages were golden. For me, it taught me a lot of things about modded Minecraft that I've started to use in other modded playthroughs, I think the pack is expertly crafted especially with all the recipe changes and how different ages changes the crafting recipes to make things easier. However, as the pack progressed, I started to lose interest (maybe due to burnout) over the difficulty of progression. I do want to say that this modpack really sparked my interest in modded Minecraft and would definitely recommend it to anyone.

It is a clear goal, good goal, chill modpack because it offers a lot of variety, challenge and fun for players who want to explore different aspects of the game. Some of the features of ATM9 modpack are:

It has a built-in crafting system that allows you to create items from basic materials.
It has a quest system that gives you objectives and rewards for completing tasks.
It has a star system that tracks your progress and achievements in the modpack.
It has a Gregstar system that lets you play with or against Greg, a powerful boss that can be summoned by using certain items.
It has many new and unique mods that add new dimensions, biomes, mobs, structures, items and more to the game.
ATM9 modpack is designed to be easy to play, but also challenging and rewarding.

Time to beat: ~330h with a moderate amount of building but progressing relative quickly.

The first 5 chapters can be progressed through at quite a reasonable rate and for me were definitely the most enjoyable parts of the pack. Once you reach the final chapter, material costs suddenly shoot up and it becomes a bit of a grind to reach the end - you'll either need to keep upgrading all your existing infrastructure, or do what I did and just AFK a lot...

Generally, the gameplay is very enjoyable, although my only real gripe is the MI overclocking/efficiency system which I have to say I'm not a huge fan of when it is the only way to speed up machines. Essentially, there is only one version of each machine (unlike GT where you can craft LV/MV/HV macerators, for example), and these can be sped up by repeatedly crafting the same recipe, which increases their efficiency, which overclocks the machine allowing it to draw more power and run faster. You can increase the maximum overclocking of a machine by adding upgrades, however this only increases the maximum speed that can be reached, and there is (as far as I can tell) no way to increase the base process speed. So, if you have a recipe that takes 2 minutes, you can throw as many overclockers as you want at it, but the first craft will still take 2 minutes to complete, and if you want it to run at say, 2s / craft, you'd have to leave it running for quite a while to reach that efficiency, and if for whatever reason it cannot continue crafting (run out of power / no input item / output full), you lose all that efficiency and you're back to square one, which can be frustrating. This system pushes you to have one machine dedicated for every recipe, and you'll want to have essentially every component being generated passively, as opposed to doing any on demand crafting. This has the knock on consequence of severely nerfing the effectiveness of AE2 autocrafting with machines, so you do have to approach this pack differently to a lot of other modpacks and can't rely on AE2 as heavily.

If you are like me and love E2E, and feel its the gold standard for how an expert pack should be designed, run away from this follow-up. fast.

It does the exact opposite of what E2E did; instead of looking at the past and keeping the good and correcting the bad. it kept the bad and threw out the good.

I have tried to complete this pack numerous times, but I can never motivate myself to continue. Its just not worth your time
