Apotheosis is a really fun mod if you want Minecraft to feel more like an RPG.

The affix loot, stronger enemies, enchantment changes, and progression systems can make normal gameplay feel much more exciting. Finding gear actually matters, and it gives you more reasons to keep fighting, exploring, and improving your setup.

The downside is that it can become overpowered very quickly. If the pack does not balance around it, you can go from normal Minecraft to completely ridiculous gear pretty fast.

I would not put this in every vanilla+ world, but for RPG, adventure, or combat-heavy packs, it is a great addition.

This mod is fantastic; it'll keep you entertained for hours. The only downside is that if you don't add extra difficulty with other mods, there's really no real challenge, but overall it's good. I put it on a server two years ago, and people got way too overpowered.

This mod does everything you expect it does, mainly you probably would recognize that it's whole thing was about overhauling the enchanting experience. Instead of vanilla power levels, you get to instead interact with 3 bars of eterna, quanta, and arcana. Eterna is the closest one to vanilla enchant power. Quanta is the random variance of the enchant power level, it could turn a level 30 enchant to a level 45 or a level 15 one or something in between, etc etc. Then Arcana is about weighting the rarity of each rarity level. Honestly a better mechanic than the default enchanting.

The other half of Apotheosis is a bunch of things, that you can actually disable btw (the enchanting module too). But let's just say that the whole thing is a bit rather unbalanced (Adventure module). Apotheosis has gems that grants modifiers when placed on the available slots of your items. These modifiers are essentially just straight up either bad or really broken compared to even the stat boosts that you get from curios and baubles combinations of old modpacks, but with that being said, it's just up to you whether to interact with this or not, it's just one config to disable it, but by default, this whole thing trashes the balance of so many modpacks, and those who tried to integrate it (such as Ciscos) still has hard issues with balancing it, though right now, the mod itself does implement a World Tier system, which could help it's own balancing, even though it's still rather unbalanced.

Overall, good performance, this is also due to the fact that i mainly experienced the Neoforge version with data components and all. Aesthetically quite pleasing, i love the sprites of the gems, the bookshelves, and even the tooltips. This mod is a sort of a broken gem, completely fixable tho.

I really like it on the surface. Vanilla enchanting is bad and Apotheosis takes the vanilla style and makes it useable. The spawner mechanics are also really nice, I love being able to change what mob is in a spawner and how fast it can be.

My biggest gripe is with the adventure module, it throws the balance of most packs off. While the world tier system has made this less of an issue, it can still throw off the power curve of packs that just throw it in there

Amazing enchantment and progression mod, even though it is extremely unbalanced post ender dragon. Gear customization using affixes and gems is insane, you can make a pickaxe that has a reach of >10 blocks for example.

While the default settings are very unbalanced and honestly hurt a lot of things more than they help, the mod is SO customizable through configs and datapacks that you can basically make it anything you want.
By default:
-Sugarcane grows to world height, and cactus grow 5 blocks tall.
-New enchanting system, which is very great and I don't need to make changes to ever.
-Spawners can be upgraded, and in the config you can change the item required to upgrade different stats, by default it's pretty easy to make it ridiculous. You can also change the level of Silk Touch required to mine a spawner and keep it.

And the systems which I always have to change extensively, Affixes and gems
By default, gems spawn from enemies at a decently high rate, they spawn in structures and they can be created by the player using other gems. Gems aren't very strong generally and are very chance based.

An affix is another way to refer to a stat, affix gear from my understanding just means "gear with a stat boost" For example, an iron sword with increased crit damage, or a shield with increased movement speed. Anyone want moon gravity pants?
Generally, these are weak on low tier equipment, which can be gained from random zombies, and in overworld chests.
High tier affix equipment can be gotten plentifully in the End, high tier affix gear is ridiculously powerful and needs to be purposely tweaked if not fully removed most of the time. If you don't care about balance, then you shouldn't worry about this part, go explore the end!
You can "salvage" the gear and gain "affix materials" which allow you to apply affixes to any gear, not just vanilla! You too can finally have your cotton candy affix sword! If you don't have any mods that add gear, that's okay, you can use it to reroll your affixes instead! It's basically an enchanting table that works on previously affixed gear.

As I said before, you can change (almost) everything in the mod! Don't like the enchanting? Goodbye enchanting! Only want the sugarcane to grow a little? Sure! Perhaps you wish an affix to deal 100 thousand damage? I don't see why you would, but you can!
I generally remove ALL natural ways to get affix gear, and allow you to gain the crafting materials yourself through a complex crafting tree using the KubeJS mod. This is generally beyond a normal player, I suggest disabling boss spawns so that the equipment is rarer.

This mod is an older mod that has always been cool, but has had various issues, mainly balancing. But the dev has been active and continues to make serious improvements, it's a staple mod for any adventure pack imo.

Apotheosis is in my opinion one of the best mods out right now. Not everyone will be into Apotheosis because, like ProjectE and other mods, I find it absolutely breaks balance in an otherwise steady modpack.

Apotheosis's most prominent features are an expansion to enchanting and a new tool upgrading system that relies on socketing gems for increased modifiers. Hence the name, the sky is the limit to how powerful one can become when harnessing all of the mod's features. Want to one-shot a beefy mob with a stone axe that does 19 damage unenchanted with your armor that combined gives you a 275% speed boost and lights any attacker on fire while teleporting them miles away? How about marveling at a Sharpness 25, Unbreaking 18, and Looting 12 sword from the heavens? With Apotheosis, you can't literally become a god, but you can get pretty damn close. All of its features mesh well with each other and are well thought out, the textures are beautiful and the new structures breathe life into the otherwise dull caves and dungeons that sprinkle the underground. While not suitable for any modpack, it is definitely a fun inclusion if you want to feel the world beckon beneath you.

About

Apotheosis® is a content mod that allows you to become stronger than ever before, while trying to stay true to vanilla mechanics at heart. Every feature is carefully put together to feel cohesive and complete.

Features range from simple changes, such as the addition of Potion Charms, to massive refactors of vanilla systems, such as Enchanting.

Content

Apotheosis is divided into different mods (or "modules"), each serving a single purpose to build up the complete Apotheosis experience. Each mod has their own CurseForge page which provides all the relevant information.

The individual mods are as follows:

  • Apothic Attributes - The core of it all, this module provides new attributes and potion effects used by the rest of Apotheosis.
  • Apothic Spawners - This module adds new functionality to Mob Spawners, allowing you to pick them up and modify them.
  • Apothic Enchanting - The second-largest module; Apothic Enchanting provides many new enchantments and a full overhaul of Minecraft's Enchanting system.
  • Apotheosis - The "adventure" module provides Affixes, Gems, World Tiers, and all manner of things needed to give yourself that feel of RPG-like progression without it taking over the game.

The Chronicle of Shadows

The content of this page is not all-inclusive. For detailed information, refer to the in-game guidebook, the Chronicle of Shadows. You can create one with a book and a gold ingot. Some modpacks may change or alter content, and content that is disabled will not be visible in the book. Alongside JEI, every bit of information is available in-game.

The sections beyond this one contain an overview of the content in Apotheosis (the Adventure Module). For the content in the other mods, refer to their CurseForge pages (linked above).

Affix Items

The main feature of Apotheosis is Affixes, a means of strengthening any item you may find (from vanilla or other mods). Affixes are applied to an item, much like Enchantments, but have very different rules. Each affix item has a Rarity, which controls what types of affixes it will receive and how strong they are. The individual affixes then provide different bonuses, from stat boosts to custom effects not found elsewhere. Affix Items may also have Sockets, but we'll get to that later.

An affixed Knightmetal Sword

Finding Affix Items

Affix Items can be found in many ways. They're located in loot chests, and will be dropped by random entities that spawn in your world. The rarity of the affix items you'll find will depend on your World Tier, a feature we'll explain a bit later.

Once you've found some affix items, you can break them down in the Salvaging Table to obtain Rarity Materials, a currency which will allow you to make your own affix items in the Reforging Table. Though you'll also need a couple Gems, which you can find from similar sources.

Gems and Sockets

As we showed earlier, some Affix Items may have Sockets. Each socket lets you place a new Gem into your item, adding additional bonuses on top of those already provided by your affixes. Gems have specific bonuses for each type of item, so choose wisely.

Gems can be socketed into items by right-clicking the item while hovering it with the gem, or by using a smithing table. If you'd like to remove a socketed gem, you'll need a Sigil of Withdrawal. If you have an item which doesn't have sockets, but you would like it to, you can use the Sigil of Socketing.

Gems can also be converted into Gem Dust, a versatile crafting ingredient. Your first two dust will need to be created by having an anvil crush two gems, after that, you can use the Salvaging Table.

Like affix items, gems can be obtained in loot chests and from killing mobs. Slaying Invaders has a higher chance to drop gems. Certain gems can only be found in specific dimensions.

World Tiers

Apotheosis also adds World Tiers, a progression system for you, your gear, and your enemies. You can access the World Tier Selection screen by pushing the hotkey (default: CTRL+T).

World Tier Selection Screen

There are five World Tiers in total, from lowest to highest difficulty:

  1. Haven - The start of your journey, and the easier tier.
  2. Frontier - The first tier of increased difficulty, where you'll start to see more affix items and stronger enemies.
  3. Ascent - For experienced adventurers, this tier has even stronger enemies still.
  4. Summit - Only available after slaying the Wither, Epic Gear is commonly found in this Tier.
  5. Pinnacle - The final and most difficult tier; but also the best source of Mythic items.

Progressing through the tiers requires that you complete the Unlock Criteria for each one; these get progressively more difficult, but are quite worthwhile.

Unlock criteria for World Tier: Frontier

Increasing your World Tier will allow you to get better loot, and will give you some direct bonuses, but will also increase the strength of every enemy in your world.

Tier Augments

Apothic Enemies

Once you've progressed into World Tier: Frontier, you may notice a loud sound and a beam of light from the sky. This indicates that an Apothic Invader has spawned in your world. Invaders are enemies that have learned to wield Affixes themselves. They have customized stats, heavily enchanted gear, and a coveted Affix Item. When slain, they will always drop this item, alongside some extra bonuses.

You may also notice other empowered mobs, known as Apothic Elites. These guys don't have the same kind of theatrics when they spawn, but always come with the promise of additional loot.

Lastly, Apotheosis also has a system known as Augmentations, which may apply random bonuses to any mob that enters the world. Don't let your guard down!

Unlocking Your Full Potential

While Reforging provides a ton of power already, it's very random, and doesn't let you have total control over what you'd like. After all, this is Minecraft, and you should always be able to craft exactly what you want to make the perfect item.

Fortunately, we have a solution for that: the Augmenting Table. This powerful table allows you to upgrade and reroll individual affixes on an item, but at a high cost. Augmenting costs exorbitant sums of experience, and it also requires Sigils of Enhancement as fuel. But when you're at the end of the road, and you have near-infinite resources, this is where you'll come to perfect your build.

Augmenting Menu

Malice

True perfection will still require a little luck. In your travels you may encounter the Sigil of Malice, an esoteric artifact which randomly changes an affix item. What exactly it does is a mystery.

The Sigil of Malice

For Developers

Apotheosis has a rich data-driven system, allowing customization of Affixes, Gems, Sockets, Tier Augments, and more (really, you name it, it's configurable, this mod is a datapack engine in disguise). The JSON Schema is perpetually a Work-In-Progress, but can be found here on GitHub. You can view the existing data files for any release by looking at the "Additional Files" tab on CurseForge, and downloading the Stock Datapack for that version.

For Mod Developers, Apotheosis is available on Shadows' Maven. There's not exactly a documented API, but you can implement a variety of content by working with Apotheosis's systems.

  implementation fg.deobf("dev.shadowsoffire:ApothicEnchanting:${mcVersion}-${apothEnchVersion}")
  implementation fg.deobf("dev.shadowsoffire:Apotheosis:${mcVersion}-${apothVersion}")
}

Dependencies

Apotheosis requires Placebo, Patchouli, Apothic Attributes, Apothic Spawners, and Apothic Enchanting. It is also recommended that you install Just Enough Items and Jade.

Note: Patchouli is "technically" optional, but the Chronicle of Shadows will be unavailable unless you install it.
