Villager recruits is a very fun mod where you can hire recruits to build an army that can be used to patrol certain areas or if you are in multiplayer use them to battle other players using the factions sistem. You can get the recruits from noble villagers that spawn in villages or using new poi blocks sold by vanilla villagers that villagers can use to turno into recruits,the mod is also higly configurable and also has many addons that enhance the experience.The recruits mod is pretty optimized but it could cause some lag when there are too many recruits and some of the community made addons may cause some performance issues.The ui is pretty good and not too hard to use although the default keybinds may conflict with the reload shaders keybind of other mods so change them if you need to.

From a design and workflow standpoint, is very straightforward in how the base mod flows. Setting up ore doubling is not hard, but in my experience it's generally something that takes maybe 1-2 hours in most modern packs.

And while most other mods work with the other machines in mekanism. The ore doubling is where that compatibility ends. The mod doesn't auto generate compatibility for the ore stuff, meaning you usually need an addon or use KubeJS to make everything fit. Makes doubling in some packs logistically harder than others as well.

I have played this mod at some point with friends using the 1.19 datapack available on planet Minecraft as part of a quick custom-made fabric modpack (the same one with regions unexplored)

What is it ?

Bastion Overhaul is a datapack for 1.20.1 (doesn't seem to work in post 1.21+ versions, but you can still try) which aims at reworking bastions ;
It aims at turning the remnants back into their prime , changing them from lava-filled ruins to dangerous piglin-filled strongholds.

What does it offer ?

Entirely-reworked bastions from the ground up, with more piglin brutes/armored piglins within much prettier structures, each variant was rethought, effectively integrating 1.18+ blocks and changing platforming from being the main challenge back to combat instead.
There isn't much to add as it does what you expect it to, changing the bastions into an interpretation of their original brutalist past form while making them harder to beat but more rewarding;

However I have noticed that it seems some of the mobs added to the structures have not their spawn set to be persistent , which leads to some despawning if you get too far after the structure generates;
It also seems that some worldgen elements do not get removed when the structure spawns in their place, leading to piglins sometimes dying of suffocation before you get there; I have not seen it happen often but I would rather warn.

In conclusion

This datapack while certainly not the only one to add nether features and structures, is yet one of the sole way I have found to actually upgrade the vanilla bastions instead of adding whole new structures (Others on this specific list may include the datapack Incendium , which among adding new biomes makes it so bastions generated in their custom biomes get transformed into custom forms, which look nothing like the originals except for the hidden bastion in basalt deltas which looks really pretty and is really challenging)
I know this datapack works well with some nether Worldgen mods ( Scorching Nether integrates surprisingly well with this one, and I might have played this mod a while ago with Regions Unexplored on the side) but due to it changing the vanilla bastions I wouldn't be surprised if it gets incompatible with larger-scale nether-remodelling mods; It's a case by case scenario where you will have to test things out if you're thinking of adding it to your modpack .
This person has also made other structure reworks such as Ancient city and Trail ruins ones (which I like less for various reasons).

Really good, but definitely has flaws which are waiting to be fixed.

The idea behind this mod is good but the problem is most of the features are straight up unused or creative only.

I get that this mod is in beta and things may change but some features are just added for the sake of it.

I think the latest updates have been of much better quality than the older ones, which tells me the devs are trying to make this mod better.

Overall this is one of the better mods I have seen for MCreator and the devs keep up the excellent work. Excited for the 0.6.0 version.

not the worst pack I have played but many of the mods felt hastily slapped together or had poor compatibility, many of the mods were extremely tedious and did not mesh with the expected gameplay of the pack.

I watch the pearl go across and then the dispenser moves and I'm like "heheha funny funny mod" and I clap my hands and stomp my feet, and then my big serious adult brain starts whirring like a propeller being powered by a jet engine and then I make a super complex redstone contraption designed around moving the dispenser between multiple places, I build a computer in minecraft, then run minecraft on that computer with this mod and do it again, recursively, going forever, it gains processing power as it goes ever deeper, I run the universe on my computer, I am God! I was God all along! AAHAHAHHAHAHA oh wait no sorry I just realized it didn't work. Dagnabbit, there isn't a single thing I can do with this that I can't just do with normal redstone. But maybe that's the point? Not of the mod, no, of life. Life is something simple and stupid that we've overcomplicated and pretend we're using for something, but it's all just a sick joke. I used to think life was a tragedy, but now I realize that it's a comedy. That's right folks, Ender Pearling Dispensers sent me on a Joker arc, because, honestly - listen close - come closer - closer - CLOSER!!! - I have no idea how to make a real review of this mod. What do you want me to say? It works. I put this in my modpack, and I play that modpack a lot. I really do have over 1000 hours played with this mod, and you know, for some of that, I even remembered that I had it. What would you have me do, not play with this mod? Insanity. A mod doesn't need to do anything meaningful to be good, someday, if people actually play my modpack, they're gonna stumble upon this mod by accident, and shoot an ender pearl out of a dispenser, and they are going to smile when it jumps to the spot where that landed. That's what all this is about, ultimately. That smile. I've played deeply complex mods that took their creators decades of work and never smiled, but that's what we're here for, is it not? To look upon this game, and feel the darkness that clouds our hearts every moment of every day pushed back, just a little. Nothing is fixed, nothing is better, I am very lonely and I am scared all the time, but when I see that pearl launch the dispenser across the room, I'm not thinking about how terrified I am of mortality, or all the things denied me by this transient existence. I am like "heheha funny funny mod" and clap my hands.

You should clap your hands too.

Stone, Chickens and Pets. Had an absolute blast playing this modpack. The progression is very smooth and not time consuming like a lot of skyblock or older Stoneblock versions. The World Engine story progression is amazing aswell. It makes it such an organic feel to explore mods you normally might skip out on. While also challenging you to find creative solutions for some item demanding quests. Looking at you Fluxite.

I love the voice acting aswell it was a fun unique experience and brought a bit of life to the questline.
If I had a small complaint it is that some Boss arena's were really far and a bit tedious to get to. But with a compass, a good Hammer and fun fight it made it worth while.

Definitely a recommendation if you want a chill relaxing modpack that still challenges you if you want one.

I set this up for a vanilla server i ran for a group of friends and while it basically worked, bedrock users had to login to their Microsoft accounts each time they attempted to join so it got really annoying, especially on mobile.

Shield Expansion doesn’t do anything new, but it does these tried and true mechanics well. The parrying feels good, the shield designs feel great. There’s no unnecessary features.

One standout is the variety in playstyles based on your shield. Instead of a linear upgrade system where each shield is better than the last, the different shields have varied cooldowns and parry windows, making each shield have its own advantages and disadvantages.

I don't like All the Mods. This is for a variety of reasons, but I'll simply focus on ones that apply to this pack only.

  • Like most "Kitchen Sink" style packs, doesn't take care to keep the overworld or moment-to-moment player experience clean. You're constantly flooded with biomes, structures, items, seeds from grass, guidebooks. It's hard to focus on what's in front of you when it feels similar to a barrage of popup ads.
  • Removed "pride flag" styled bees from this pack due to developer's own biases. This is an extremely uncomfortable thing to have to think about when I'm just trying to play Minecraft.
  • Unlike early iterations of the pack series, doesn't actually include very many small underrated mods like you'd expect from a pack that wants to dedicate itself to having "all" the mods. Instead it doubles down on walking you through large, well tread mods like Botania, Mekanism, and GregTech.
  • Inclusion and focus on mods like Mystical Agriculture, Productive Bees, ExtremeReactors, Easy Villagers, and (mostly) unconfigured Apotheosis result in a very loose, "hyperscaled" feeling experience of playing through.
  • Their "Core" mods like "allthemodium" and "alltheores" made for the pack feel very low quality. The textures aren't amazing and remind me more of a first time modder's attempt at making "the best" tools and armor for their mod.

The fun parts of heavily modded Minecraft like interesting cross mod interactions and creative problem solving are obviated away by these first order optimal strategies that immediately solve every single problem. Want materials? Grow a bunch of Mystical Agriculture plants. Power? Just build a massive Extreme Reactor. Something a villager trades that you need? Pump emeralds into it with Easy Villagers. Combat prowess? Apotheosis radically outscales everything else.

In order to keep a semblance of balance in the pack, mobs such as bosses have to have their damage and health cranked to ridiculous values to keep up with the large array of optimal solutions to problems. This makes the experience for more casual players miserable, locking them out of several mods entirely unless they want to participate in the huge expert-pack-like arms race.

I differ from most users in that I think Create does have a purpose in most packs, since it has taken over in terms of "moving world" mods. All the Mods takes this opinion and drags it into question kicking and screaming, since every single OTHER thing in Create is rendered completely obsolete by other mods. I don't think every mod in a kitchen sink needs to have an undisputed niche, but this is emblematic of the problem running throughout All the Mods in that it doesn't actually feel like any care was put into the pack all in terms of mod or balancing choice.

Performance for a kitchen sink pack is below average. I don't expect 400 mods to run like vanilla, but when mods that are known to be apocalyptically laggy like Pipez are included and presented as one of the extremely strong options mentioned above, this exacerbates the issue.

I disagree with effectively every single design choice All the Mods makes, and the politest thing I can say about it is that its shortcomings convinced me to get into pack development and mod development myself, meeting several lifelong friends and members of the community in my pursuit to make something better that I actually like.
