Good modpack and was pretty fun. This modpack basically completely overhauls exploration and progression. Exploration being, by far, one of the BEST I've played. However, performance is lacking in many areas and even on lower render distances you can face stutters and lag spikes, which can make the experience worse. Playing with friends however makes this modpack significantly more fun. Resurvival definitely lives up to the name but still feels, at least in my experience, a little lacking. Good modpack overall.

Progression:

The Progression in Resurvival has been completely revamped with new tiers and with stone tools being replaced with flint tools. Overall the start is slower than vanilla but not bad. Never in the time I was playing did I ever feel like a god, the modpack is well balanced and challenging at many parts. However it feels lacking of something that I can't quite put my finger on it. I feel like a small questbook to guide some players, especially those new to modding, through the progression or the new features.

Highlights:

Resurvival adds several origins, or races, that you can choose from in the beginning. Each one with their own playstyles and all of which are fun. Although, it would be great if there were more origins. There are also new mobs you can fight including new varients of skeletons, and foes to fight.

Exploration:

By far the BEST part of this modpack. The large sky islands and peninsulas really complement the unique movement system that the modpack adds. Plus, the new movement system heavily enhances and makes moving around and exploring the areas fun and a thrill. Furthermore, many things in Resurvival have been added to enhance exploration: new structures, stunning world gen, and of course the sky theme. However, when under islands it becomes immensely dark and nearly impossible to see if shaders are off.

Cohesion:

In this modpack, I have not felt that a SINGLE thing looks or feels like it would be out of place. With the edition of the new bird-people that live on the sky islands really breath life into the modpack and fits the theme perfectly. Origins as well fit beautifully, all origins feel great, fun, and satisfying to play. My favorite being the forge golem. Each have their own unique playstyles and unique mechanics.

Combat:

This modpack is not EASY, just a fair warning, but it also isn't unfair. Of course there are ways to make it easier, such as selecting an easier origin, not fighting much (although this is less fun), or turning the difficulty down. But, with that the combat also gets overhauled, with some items allowing headshots, shields allowing parries, etc. It adds an element into the game that requires much much more skill rather than spam or magic. Plus, air combos and other combat additions make it really really satisfying and also rewards you with exp or other prizes. Mobs as well can get different "powers" that make it harder to fight but also much more dynamic and fun. Although some particles such as trails, and other particles can clutter your screen easily making it harder to fight.

The modpacks early game can be a bit confusing as it's changed so much from the vanilla gameplay cycle but once you have surpassed that it becomes really fun. the custom world gen and the movement of the custom origins makes exploring very exciting

Some performance issues here and there, have experienced multiple crashes

Very aesthetic world generation and built in shaders, along with custom textures for alot of the items and mobs alot of effort has clearly been put in

Resurvival isn't 100% perfect, there are still some issues - however, it's actively being worked on by people who want to make it the best possible experience. And what is there is some of the most unique fun I've had in a modpack. Rarely does a pack make me continue playing for longer than a week, but this one has held my brain captive because it actually improves upon many of MC's lacking aspects. Combat has more variety with foes to face and also gear to use, and the origins all have their own very unique powers that make combat (and exploration) a blast. You're actively encouraged to explore the world to progress, across as many biomes and structures as you can find, and the owlytrian - my favorite origin - has such a fun progression as you gradually gain better flight abilities via gaining enchanting gems. Combat and exploration are significantly improved, there are many awesome structures to find, end remastered is configured in SUCH a satisfying way, and not to mention the worldgen is GORGEOUS and very very unique (most ive ever screenshotted a pack, so freaking pretty). The sea / sky theme is one that really sets resurvival apart from vanilla, with these two worlds that are at odds with each other in different ways. Also the owlings / illhawks are very cool, and in my opinion much more compelling than the villagers and illagers. This pack is great and is only getting better. Performance does suffer occasionally though, so do be aware when using shaders / natures / explorer compass if you're on a lower end pc. But yeah, 5 stars this pack is excellent.

This pack has potential, the progression overhaul feels fairly balanced and the overall difficulty is defiantly ramped up, i like the origins however i do wish there was more than two not sure if there are plans to add more. The movement with the elytra origin feels great when combined with the new world gen. I did however run into some performance issues mainly stuttering caused by massive cascades, Chunks also stopped loading while exploring which was somewhat game breaking. Overall i would recommend this pack.

Are YOU getting bored of vanilla Minecraft?

Struggling to find new passion for this game you once loved so much, but you don't want to mod it to hell and back?
Well, have I got the modpack for you! Er, Neko has the modpack for you!!!

I genuinely think Resurvival is the best modpack to get back into Minecraft with. Mostly because that was MY experience ages ago when I was just getting back into MC again. My absolute favorite part of Resurvival is how it makes you stick around in the early game a little longer, but not so long it feels like you can't get anywhere.
I love the way it's progression is redesigned. In Resurvival, I've never been too powerful for too long (unless I'm stealing from my friends

I genuinely haven't enjoyed a pack this much in a LONG while! Usually when I download a modpack I modify it a bunch to suit my tastes, but after playing with Resurvival for a while I really like it the way it was designed :) There have been a few very minor bugs I've come across, but the pack dev is very responsive to bug reports and fixes them in no time!

If you've never stepped outside of your comfort zone and tried a pack with a touch of challenge, this is a great stepping stone into getting your butt kicked

Resurvival is a labor of love from Nekomaster and his friends

with the aim of upping the difficulty of default survival, while also rebalancing and tweaking progression.

Players face a new Overworld, one covered in sprawling seas and flying islands, with a slew of new foes, critters and bosses scattered throughout. To survive, players must rely on the powers of one of 2 custom Origins and their wits, in order to scavenge flying islands, abandoned structures, and sunken caverns for resources.

Many customers changes have been made to the Vanilla Progression tree in order to up overall difficulty, such as:

  • Changing the stick crafting recipe to force to forage for sticks
  • Replacing Stone tools with Flint
  • Upgrading low-tier armors and tools is now the only way to craft the next tier of stuff
  • The Nether Portal frame being altered to require a full frame of Reinforced Deepslate (thereby locking it to the Ancient City)
  • End Portals now require 12 unique eyes, which can be found by exploring structures.

Atop all of this, there is a slew of unique content in the pack, like:

  • Two Custom Origins that players get to choose from - The graceful Owlytrians that soar between islands, and the hardy Crablings that dash through the oceans and caves.
  • New Zombie and Skeleton variants, each with unique behaviors and mechanics.
  • Two races of bird-people - The Illihawks and Owligers - now sparsely populate the sky islands.
  • New armor tiers, such as Blackiron, Silver, and Paragon
  • A new sleeping system that speeds up the night cycle based on the percentage of sleeping players, rather than skipping it.
  • New dungeons and boss arenas to find, each with their own rewards and dangers.
  • Hundreds of custom recipes and loot table tweaks.

... I realize at this point that this is starting to sound more like an advertisement than a review, so let me leave off with this:

This a challenging modpack with a great deal of time and care put into it. It may be hard at first, and you'll probably die a few times, but regardless, it is a great way to refresh your survival experience, if you feel like it's lacking challenge or feeling stale.
While the pack can be experienced in singleplayer, it is definitely better as a multiplayer experience, either with a group of your friends, or on the official server (more info on the modpack page) where a friendly community can help to show you the ropes. :)

TLDR: A challenging modpack with a great deal of custom generation, enemies, and new gear to find.

Resurvival

is a progression-stretching, combat/exploration-focused modpack designed to make Survival Mode truer to its name.

Where vanilla Minecraft allows you to speedrun the experience in minutes, Resurvival thoughtfully redesigns progression so as to slow it down drastically, placing a major emphasis on resource management and pre-planning.

Combat is also majorly emphasised, with raised spawn caps for monsters that hold far more important drops than normal being paired alongside many more mobility and offensive options.

Custom-modified versions of the Angel Islands and Amplified Nether datapacks, alongside highly customized Origins, biome & structures mods and thoroughly-tweaked Complementary Reimagined + Euphoria Patcher shaders bring Minecraft to life in ways you've never seen anywhere else before.

(Check the gallery tab for a better look at what the pack has to offer!)

Although challenging and unique, the pack sits far closer to Raspberry Flavoured's Hard Mode in terms of game design than it does something like... RLCraft. It's my own weird spin on vanilla MC, so try and take it as such!

Due to the nature of worldgen in the pack, one or both of two suggestions are proposed here:

  • Playing either with a higher render distance than normal to see as much of the terrain as possible,
  • Installing Distant Horizons, which already has its settings configured inside the modpack for you for a strong balance of extra render distance and performance.

(That said, it's a big pack - 4-8 GB of allocated RAM recommended!!)

Progression Changes
description_47d34a18-3429-4770-9c93-eb3f8ad196f5.png

Unlike vanilla MC...

  • Sticks are no longer craftable - Instead, you now forage for them by breaking grass, chopping down trees, or carving up Old Bows and Fishing Rods from mobs.

  • Stone Tools are swapped out for Flint Tools - Flint droprate from Gravel is raised considerably thusly, and can also sometimes be found in Coal Ore or drop from Skeletons. Their arrows can also be broken for Flint too!

  • Furnaces now require Raw Copper to craft instead of Cobblestone, giving Copper Ore a significant use and encouraging you to make use of Campfires until you can obtain one.

  • Flint and Steel are now the Firestarter, made with only two sticks! Consider roasting your meals and your enemies alive alike... It's quite an effective strategy.

  • Diamond Gear now requires the Gem Forge to create, meaning crafting Diamond tools and armor is Nether-locked!

  • The Nether is now locked behind the Ancient City Portal, which can only be opened with the Echo Igniter!
  • ... And many more!

These changes aren’t for tediums sake, but to make every step of progression feel both exciting and meaningful once achieved. I hope it comes across that way for you when you play!

Core Mods
description_395eb382-5767-403e-a1ae-bcb79e95d091.png

We've got...

  • Bigger Stacks allows both 10x more handling capacity for regular items, whilst limiting foods to far smaller stack sizes due to...

  • Spice of Life: Apple Pie Edition and Farmer's Delight, which encourage you to explore creating the best meals for powerful extra buffs.

  • Wall-Jump and Combat Roll for enhanced mobility, both in combat and exploration.

  • Warrior's Rage constantly encourages your barbarism, making you stronger with each successive kill. Enhanced AI, alongside Enemy Expansion, Species and Opposing Force turns enemy encounters into varied and fearsome affairs with every fight.

  •  Players are given many more options in battle through mods like Backstabs Reforged and the custom-made Airstrikes enabling unique, stylish attack combos. Additionally, Origin abilities like Combat Bashes and Elytra Crits have never made combat more addicting than here.

  • Archery Expansion and Shield Expansion bring forth new progression and skill ceilings both offensively and defensively, countering the deadliness of the enemies in the dark.

  • Mining Master reinvents enchanting with the cost-free Gem Forge and Smithing Table systems. Mine for powerful Enchanting Gems underground (Or trade for them with a Gem Trader) to become stronger than ever! Melt gems together in the Gem Forge to create Fusion Gems for even rarer enchantments!

  • Sortilege completely overhauls the Enchanting Table into what is effectively a roulette wheel in place of the more determinate Enchanting Gems, in addition to capping the number of Enchantments an item can hold. This limit can be broken with the new Limitite item in Anvils, found as rare loot all over the world!

  • Easy Anvils makes repairing tools and armour perpetually viable, whilst LootJS only pushes this further by making all Ore blocks drop XP when mined! This is important, since Mending is completely unobtainable!

  • Mobs Properties Randomness, Custom Villager Trades and some exclusive resource packs introduce brand new spins on the Villagers and Wandering Trader.

  •  Sortilege also alters death mechanics - Your hotbar and equipped armour, in addition to numerous common building blocks, will not be dropped when you die! Treasure, however will be lost... Or will it?

  • Death & Taxes is used to remove the obnoxious slog of recovering lost items and instead replaces it with the Grimm Trader, a scary scavenger who will find and return your collectables to you... At a price. Do your best to earn Emeralds in the off-chance you meet a with a terrible fate!

  • Cave Spelunking obliterates ores found deep inside stone, making strip-mining a pointless endeavour - Face your fears and go experience Galosphere's beautiful cave biomes instead!

  • Sodium Dynamic Lights lets your held light items pierce the darkness around you!

  • Curios allow for the convenient holding and useage of extra items,
like Lanterns and Spyglasses, in addition to Artifacts trinkets that empower you greatly.

  • Numerous stucture mods, like the YUNG's Better series, in addition to a mostly-faithfully backported Trial Chambers bring the world to life.

  • Dozens of QoL mods, performance mods, built-in and fine-tuned Complementary Shaders...

    ... And so much more.

Want to play without Sky Islands/Amplified Nether?

Well... Resurvival and it's unique Origins have been designed around them, so I can't guaruntee they'll feel as purposeful if you were to remove the unique worldgen... But sure, you can do that!

In the modpack's directory: global_packs\required_data -> Removed Angel Islands Everywhere 111 and/or Amplified Nether 1.20.1, and boom - No more altered worldgen beyond new biomes and structures.

If you're doing this, I would also suggest you consider removing Origins and Apoli (+ Apoli Stream Leak + SolApplePie Origins Fix) outright too - It'll give you better TPS, and at that point, you'll have a pretty grounded Resurvival experience again!

Want to use Resurvival on your own server?

There is no server pack, but here's the client-only mods you need to remove from the server-side for it to function:

Neko's Enchanted Books
Cull Less Leaves Reforged
Entity Model Features
Entity Texture Features
Euphoria Patcher
FancyMenu
FastChat
Figura
Oculus
Name Pain
Memory Settings
Oculus Flywheel Compat
Sound Physics Remastered
Sun and Moon: Celestial Configuration

Make sure the client and server have the same CONFIG FILES and GLOBAL PACKS FOLDERS, or else the server will throw a mismatched mods error at the client when they try to join. Rather than going through that hassle though, you could always consider...

Discord, SMP, Bug Reports, Suggestions & Feedback
