the pack focuses around gregtech. there is no magic mods (almost). it gives you a lot of qol features and the gameplay is fun. there are 14 voltage tiers, each one with fully implemented custom content, machines and chemical lines. The pack discord is active and helpful. I've completed this pack 2 times and I can recommend it to everyone who likes gregtech.

Technological Journey is a Gregtech mod pack with its main focus on gregicality. Gregicality adds tiers from uhv-max all with machines circuits and content to go along with it. The early game features a lot of quality of life; even in lategame there is minimal grind but plenty of complexity. The only issue with this pack is that It runs on GTCE instead of GTCEU. this causes some performance issues, and endgame can certainly be an issue if you're not building efficiently. Technological Journey 2 is currently in alpha and will be completely remade in GCEU, but until then this modpack is still an amazing option for anyone who likes Gregtech.

If you're new to modded Minecraft and looking for a challenging experience, then the Compact Claustrophobia modpack is an excellent choice. This modpack is designed to push players to their limits by placing them in confined spaces.

Compact Claustrophobia runs incredibly smoothly, even on lower-end systems. This means that you can focus on the gameplay without worrying about lag or crashes.

In terms of aesthetics, Compact Claustrophobia is decent, but not exceptional. The modpack's focus on cramped spaces means that there isn't much room for elaborate builds or landscapes.

The balance of Compact Claustrophobia is also worth mentioning. While the modpack is challenging, it never feels unfair or impossible. Players are given enough resources and tools to survive, but they will need to be clever and strategic in terms of space management.

Overall, I would highly recommend the Compact Claustrophobia modpack to anyone who is new to modded Minecraft and looking for a thrilling, challenging experience. With its excellent performance and solid balance, this modpack is sure to provide a few hours of entertainment.

Great small scale modpack. I've restarted it about 4 times just trying to figure out better ways to optimize my set ups to complete the pack. With 4 main mods to it, it's a good entry for folks that are new to mods and veterans looking for something simple between harder packs. However, I wouldn't say it'll prepare you to take on ANY pack given it only has a few popular mods. It's more that it'll give you the basics for thinking about how mods work together. It's also lightweight, so it should run on computers that lean more toward the potato side of things. The only problem I've really had is lag generated from fluids moving quickly in and out of TE portable tanks. That's easy to circumvent with other options in the pack. The story is pretty simple and based on limiting your space, but it's fun to work out how to fit everything you need into the space provided. Top tip though, make sure to break any block that looks obviously out of place. Trust me, it'll make your life a lot easier.

The pack's main mechanic is space, progress in the pack typically means getting a bigger area to play around with and getting enough space for new multiblocks, it is an ingenious concept.
the only problem i have with it is that later on automating making compact machines requires opencomputers which is tough but it's not even technically required for progression.
i think gimmick packs are vital for the modpack scene since if every experience was the same it would be boring.

The most magical feeling modpack I've tried, you can play with multiple types of magic, become the witch you've always wanted. The gameplay is very cosy, there are lots of decorating options, wood and stone from differed mods. It's very open, you can choose to explore the world, fight your way through the dungeons or just stay home and build your witches keep.

The pack is very good and having fun pating it but
the performance is not the best and is not stable had many crashes.

I’ve just got to the part where ive made the scroll of transmutation and so far in my opinion the pack is amazing, mixing together mods for the quest progression is a really fun challenge and personally Crypt1c is the only mod developer ive enjoyed playing this type of modpack! I cant wait to see what amazing mods you release in the future, even though im not the smartest tool in the shed, i’ll figure a way to make my progression unlike that of a snail and push my way through this pack! TLDR: Long, fun, immersive, somewhat grindy story-driven progression pack with a well crafted custom world and many unique mechanics. Personally believe it is worth trying. Performance is not the best.

The only people said to have finished Journey Beyond the Abyss (to my knowledge) are the creator, austinsupercar, and his brother. Either way the actual list of people who have completed the pack officially on its curseforge page is empty!

This pack is very hard to say the least, but very rewarding. In other expert packs you often have to just embrace the grind, and in JBTA this is also very much something you can do. What is interesting though is that, yes, there is always an obvious, mindlessly grindy way to progress, but the pack will often have alternative ways to get resources that are much faster. The pack organically encourages you to do things that are not explicitly spelt in its quest book: exploring the world, investing in your millenaire town, interacting with various custom NPC's, checking for new improved recipes in the recipe book, and progressing in the story to gain more "knowledge". I know this is mostly just reiterating the stuff already said in the pack description, but I want to emphasize that these things make the world JBTA is set in feel immersive and dynamic and make the progression fun.

There are things I could definitely see turning people off from even trying the pack or continuing it once they have started. Obviously the length (600 - 2000 hr estimate) of completion makes it seem daunting, but unlike most other expert packs, there is always something you can be doing during that time; not just waiting for a recipe so you can continue. Another thing is the way certain items are gated behind gamestages. The pack makes you drop items you don't "have knowledge for" as a way of introducing lore to the mysterious books of knowledge you find in the abyss that grant you new "skills" (unlocking new mods) upon reading them. It is a very annoying and a somewhat artificial way of gating progression, but I can understand the decision behind it. There is also pollution of the realms, which may not be most people's cup of tea. The weight limit mechanic may also be extremely annoying before one gets access to carriable storage, but like the other things I mentioned, it fits with the pack's theme.

The performance is also not great. The curseforge page recommends 8-10GB of RAM allocation. I'm able to run it with 7 (as that's all I can give) but it's not silky smooth. Either way one needs a pretty decent computer to run this, making it not very accessible. I suspect the performance issues likely result from how many "dynamic" things are going on, as the main island with its millenaire town is supposedly always chunk loaded.

Ok this rant is getting too long, I'll stop here. Give the pack a try if you can!
