So this modpack is pretty light in all ways. Playtime, Grind and performance. It took me around 36 hours to fully beat it with all side quests completed(Except for fully occultism page which is added for no reason I guess).

Mods - I guess it's pretty standart mods like Mekanism, AE2, EnderIO and some others. But I don't know why the just added tons of useless mods like AA, Extreme Reactors, Immersive Engineering, Powah which got almost zero impact on gameplay adding like 1-2 necessary recipes, but there are Occultism and Ars Nouvea with absolutely zero impact on gameplay but having tons of quests, even more than every other chapters combined. (No Create mod in newest modpack? Am I dreaming?).

Quests - There are 4 main chapters which is great but getting worse in late game and you got like "craft some random **** to end the pack" ahh gameplay and it varies from craft empowered items from AA to craft Quantum computer core from AE2 which I didn't even touched to this moment cuz I'm good with ID storage(I spent 8 out of 36 hours on crafting this core).

Despite the everything i said above, I enjoyed playing this pack with that watery vibe(Such watery that you even need to plant seed only underwater) and custom progression with custom dungeons.

And yeah, gambling, gambling for dirt, gambling for netherrack, gambling for creative things and obviously gambling against time for more gambling.

Summary

DeceasedCraft is by far the most well-designed zombie-apocalipse modpack that there is available on any platform by now. Most of the other zombie-apocalypse modpacks lacks some realistic mechanics like corporal temperature and limbs health, but DeceasedCraft has everything, from engineering systems, to food nutrition, body heat, complex health system and amazingly beautiful gun textures. In the next sections, i'll detail why DeceasedCraft is the best zombie apocalypse modpack that exists and why it has already surpassed or at least matched the quality of some actual well-made zombie games like Project Zomboid(Steam).

#Gameplay
The game features complex and diverse gameplay styles and a world/mechanics overall that turns minecraft into practically another game. It removes the necessity to mine ores for grinding some items since you can find them in the naturally-generated abandoned cities(The cities you see on the trailer and the images of the modpack are ALL procedurally generated, no one built them). It features health system that separates your health between all your limbs and gives you disadvantages if you have some of your limbs damaged(slow movement speed if you break your legs for example) instead of the classical 20 slots minecraft health bar. You will experience the TRUE hardcore survival with the health system plus the nutrition system, wich forces you to have a balanced diet(grains, sugars, protein, fat, etc.) in order to have better health conditions so you can survive the hordes. It also features temperature and drinking systems, allowing you to risk your life if you drink unboiled water, die with hypothermia, or hyperthermia, die of dehydration or having your health reduced drastically due to a bad diet. In DC, the zombies are just one of the dozen ways to die and to turn your life miserable, just like it would be in a apocalypse. It also features engineering mods like Create and Immersive Engineering, if you want to automate your survival using only your engineering expertise and intelligence. It also features gun mods with real-life models such as Glocks, Scars, and even automated turrets if you want to defend your base. The modpack is built for multiplayer pvp servers as long is well-built for singleplayer survival sessions, wich i'll explain further.

Dedicated minecraft server

DC has a dedicated minecraft server hosted in CluckMC, wich is added into the server list as you download the modpack. The server has 20 - 40 players active through the day, as for 17/03/2025(the day i'm writing this review), is the most active server of a zombie-apocalypse modpack. I've tested other zombie-apocalypse MC servers and they can't even reach 20 players a day. The server has PVP and PVE lobbies, as for in PVP they feature even more mechanics: Homes, Claims, Factions, Teleport system, Player Auctionhouses and even a bounty system wich stimulates PVP between players in a healthy-way, without losing your whole base to a no-life player like it would be in Day-Z styled games.

Textures, art and music

DeceasedCraft has a unique mod made by the modpack devs wich adds BIZARRE zombie-like creatures(similar to the old 1.12.2 Scape and Run Parasites Mod), wich are way more powerful and challenging than the zombies, and even features special Zombies such as Spore Zombies that makes you get nausea, and even Juggernaut zombies(like the ones in State of Decay), along with many other that i didn't had the (un)luck to encounter in the survival mode yet.
Altough, Deceasedcraft don't have a personal soundtrack and still uses minecraft vanilla soundtrack, and vanilla textures for most blocks, it doesn't make any less enjoyable.
DeceasedCraft uses the mod Timeless and Classics Guns for 1.18(wich will likely be updated to TACZ in the patch 6.0, wich is a even better version of TAC), wich is a mod that adds realistic real-world guns, with animations that has the same quality as Call-of-Duty modern games, and a slightly more "squared" 3D model, to match Minecraft aesthetics as well as making the game runs smoothly.

Performance and Stability

DeceasedCraft has a good performance, but it should be necessary to add some more optimization mods for lower-end PCs. My PC has the following specs:
Ryzen 3 3200g
XFX RX 6600 8gb
16gb RAM
128gb M.2 SSD
It runs in my pc with no problems, but it may encounter some performance problems in other PCs.
I play in the dedicated server for this reason. If you play in a server, your game will only render the visuals and all the entities and world processing will be made by the dedicated server, making the game runs even smoother.

Upcoming v6.0 GIGA update

The DC dev team is preparing a GIANT update for 6.0 wich will likely solve all the of the "problems" the pack already have. It will be ported for 1.20.1 and it will likely solve much of the performance issues(because newer forge versions are WAAAAY more optimized nowadays), allowing the devs to puch more effort in the Aesthetics and Art part of the game, since much of the processing load will likely be eased.
It shows that the modpack isn't abandoned like most good modpacks, it is STILL being updated with much hard-work, and the devs are promising a update so big that will add new cities, new vehicles, new systems, new everything to the point it will look like a completely new game.

Final considerations - Better than actual zombie games? YES!

DC already has just as many system as games like Project Zomboid or even DayZ, and i consider it to be even better than Project Zomboid. The carefully curated mod list alongside with the infinite possibilities of minecraft world makes it just as better as many zombie/shooter games out there. You don't find HALF of this mechanics and gameplay features in Project Zomboid, even Project Zomboid being a highly acclaimed game.

If any of this doesn't hype you to play the game for a long run, you should at least give it a little try, and surely the practical gameplay will convince you.

So, Project Sacrife took me 19 hours to beat.

Mods

Mods is just ok, nothing interesting. But as i first think the main mod of this modpack is Blood Magic and thats true... for the first half of the first chapter... And after that you going to get a bit of content like crafting iron plates with Altar. And the main problem of this - in Blood Magic focused pack you complete don't get fully or even half of mod experience. Blood Magic have a lot of content, but in BLOOD MAGIC FOCUSED pack you got blood altar, some starter will farm and uhm, uum. That's all, you don't need anything more, Blood Magic has over 20 rituals, but you need none of them except for 2. And that's really disappointng cuz it has so much potential

Quest system

Quests is pretty pretty good, cuz you got only 5 main chapters with good progression, description and some of side quests.
No rewards which isn't really good
And only 3 extra which does make sense, and thats surprisingly, cuz author didn't decided to add like craft every freaking item on JEI. I like it

Game procces

Early game 1-2 chapter - So this is the only and the most worked on part of the modpack, You got interesting start with blood magic, interesting biomancy. Overrall at this moment you think that's modpack is pretty good
Mid game+End game - I decided to combine this part cuz they are ****. So in 3 chapter you got the Transmutation table and that's absolutely gamebreaking feature, like it completely broke remain pack. They decided to not patch emc. So like most of the things in pack have emc, making it unnecessary to do anything more than once. Btw that's not the main problem. At the third chapter they just decided to not do anything, so you got like powah, DE and some other mods without any changes just to do "Craft every ingot in game recipe" and end the modpack

Overall for the modpack, it's pretty mid modpack(excluding Kitchen sink ones), but it only takes about 20-30 hours to play so you can give it a try

this is the shitiest modpack I have ever played. the concept seems so fun, but I can't even play it because of the amount of the bugs and glitches there are. the main one, is whenever I use JEI and put the stuff into the crafting grid when I am in the philosopher's stone. it causes my game to bug out. I can only move, i can't break blocks can't do ANYTHING. i try to reset my game but it doesn't let me close out. it glitches me to the main menu and I can't sloe out of that. i can't even clos the window. FIX THE ******* BUGS PLEASE.

No auto backups, didn't realize because most modpacks have it so my world glitched and i lost my progress. Create farming doesn't work well, for some reason it randomly assembles(likely due to a crop incompatibility). Also imo not very stardew like, you can farm, cook, and make booze but that is really it in terms of stardew qualities. Cosmetic hats take up the same slot of useful hats. Pretty fun otherwise, lots of quests, good storage mods, has create. Has a good aesthetics theme.

This pack has everything you are looking for.
Tech is fully covered with Thermal, Gregtech, Mekanism, Immersive Engineering, Create, and more!
Magic is present and not much time is required to be spent on magic to obtain the star.
It has built in shaders that can run on integrated graphics or can bring my 7900xtx to its knees.
It is performance heavy but is not insane or stuttery.

after spending hundreds of hours on different modpacks trying to chase the high tween me had playing minecraft deep into the night, i've finally found the pack that recaptures that spirit for me. the pack that makes me excited to play, that inspires me to do more, and has helped me fall back into love with minecraft. i love the early game, i love taking my time, i love the quality of life fixes and the atmosphere of the pack. i don't think i would change a single thing about it. 10/10

and pyrite is perfect for that!!! fills in odd gaps with some slabs or stairs being unavailable for certain blocks, as well as adds even more options for building and customization.

"simple" is the best way to describe this pack. it isn't a vast overhaul - but it makes vanilla minecraft usable. small qol changes that go a long way to make your experience worthwhile.
