Does what is says on the tin and reduces the clutter in the F3 menu, but it has no customization so you cannot control what is removed.

This mod is like Clumps but doesn't add a new entity so it can improve performance if lots of xp entities are being spawned (like mob farms). However, it also contains a couple of pretty random fixes that i don't need. I only install this mod for the xp optimization.

This mod makes forests look a lot better, especially if you have a worldgen mod for forests.

You have no idea how many modpacks I've played where progression gets completely snapped in half because JER gave inaccurate information to the pack developer about loot in chests or mob drops. No other JEI addons have this problem, and while yes, there is a command to update the information, in practice, it crashed the game and does nothing. My understanding is that even if it works, it only does ore generation graphs.
The mob drops UI looks pretty good, though it should be accessible from the mob's spawn egg.

There are features in Quark that are downright difficult to play Minecraft without, and really ought to be added into vanilla as soon as possible.
Linking items in chat is practically required for playing multiplayer, the option to build on the far side of blocks by sneaking is a life saver, Glass Item Frames are the decoration block of the century, not to mention, all item frames work on the top and bottom of blocks, the tooltips for food and armor have information that is extremely useful and cleanly presented, and I personally end up making a lot of use of the emotes and fairy circles.
However, not every feature is on this level. The biggest standout are the ghosts, which are three white squares that make random sounds, rather than having any of their own, and just kind of spawn around in the nether. The autojump keybind is exceedingly annoying, and I'm very doubtful that anyone in history has pressed it on purpose. The animal texture variants are hideous, Quark somehow managed to make a frog that I don't like, and that takes effort, the Nether is full of normal melee monsters, which isn't what the Nether is designed for, guardians free-spawning at random in the ocean is an unhinged idea, axes fast-breaking leaves instead of hoes leads to you accidentally wasting tons of axe durability trying to mine wood, and the vast majority of content comes in the form of mid-tier Building blocks that you won't use, because you're playing modded, and there is no chance your other mods don't have better options.
For a mod based around customizability, Quark is remarkably bad at having the kinds of options I'd want. For instance, I don't like the normal animal variants, but I love the idea of rare shiny variants of mobs, but they cannot be enabled separately, you get one, you get both. The Tetris enchanting system is really cool, but other mods rely on enchanting to work the way it does by default, I'd love to just have a variant of the enchanting table with a different crafting recipe that does the tetris enchanting, but instead you cannot enable it without removing default enchanting.

Overall, as stated in the title, one of the most essential mods out there that I never want to play without, but configuration feels less like tweaking it to my preference than hitting it with a hammer until it behaves.

Gives you all the information you need, while looking like a part of Minecraft's UI, lets you customize practically everything, there are seriously 7 pages of options, you can freely click and drag the map into any part of your screen, and can show icons for all mobs, even allowing mods and resource packs to add custom icons. The Craftable Waypoints addon doesn't seem to be maintained anymore, but it's a very cool addition. Even features I'd think to request, like automatically waypointing your portal when you enter a new dimension, could well be options I simply haven't found yet. Updates come extraordinarily regularly, even on game versions that are not popular. Dropped items are rarely shown by other map mods, but they're incredibly useful in all kinds of scenarios, and actually allow you to play the game without the ugly hitbox mode enabled sometimes.

I remember at least 1-2 years ago, this pack did have a lot of things for everyone. But the latest update seems to try to turn down / lock some progression for tech.

The problem of P2HE is it's failed to deliver a good experience from anything this pack try to offer.

  • Story ..... they try.
  • RPG class is very unbalanced.
  • Progression is a mass. .
  • Why does this pack need a high-tech mod for ore processing?
  • It even has space travel!? (that barely has anything to do with this pack)
  • Performance is okay, except huge craft lag.

► RPG
It does have rpg element with a weapon mod here and there. The problem is they are not working well with each other. Do rpg series work with enhance netherite? How can mages and archers use soul-like weapons effectively? (Mage is the worst experience here too).

As equipment is a freebie from exploration and lacks proper balance. Making a lot of them useless compared to others. Reforge is also annoying at best, especially early with stone/iron tools.

Talent trees are also meh at best. +1 this +5% that until choose only 1 big node. That's hardly called a build or forge your endgame or whatever.

► Tech
WHY? Why does a rpg, middle-aged class pack have a high-tech mod!? Create and Botany seem.... okay at best if you really want it.

But Tech reborn, Modern Industrial, Industrial Revolution... Do they have anything good for this pack besides 'I want tech guy to play this too.' It's not a duck, it's an abomination now. Wiki say you don't need to play with tech, then why do you add them, a lot. Now ores is a total mass. Space is empty too...

Also, previously. You can enjoy mix and match each mod for best optimize/processing. Now the authors seems to have started working on a liner line. Force to use powah or ****** Tech Reborn for power storage and alike. At this point, you can just add greg-like to this pack and done with it.

They still keep gaming axe and power armor for some reason...

► Progression
You can walk right away to Minecell and get tons of iron/diamond with good equipment on the first day. Find a saddle and tame phoenix to bypass all exploration and loot anything above ground (and sky). Skip all non-vanilla ore for non-slog experience.

The only thing that locks you is that beloved 12 end-portal eye mod. But it's just soft lock to a bit more content and some boss. You backtrack or travel 10k blocks to hunt that boss in the story line.

Quest guide you poorly, and the boss is not balanced based on that progression .... or class. Nothing is more fun than committing to a class and getting puked by boss that was not designed for your class.

Overall, threat it as a weird kitchen sink with quest book and a boss hunting list. Nothing more.
At least, this pack don't try to one-shot you with every mob.

Overview

FTB Quests has been lucky enough to find itself in a position where nothing else has really ever been able to compete with it, Its never really felt like it fit within the game, Its a spreadsheet? Its never been immersive, its never been pretty. But what it does do is work, and to its credit it works well.

FTB Quests has managed to establish itself as THE questing mod, you'd be hard pressed to find a large pack these days that doesn't use it, and thats for good reason, its the tried and tested method to guide players through your pack, its easy to set up and its easy to use.

I think we are slowly getting to a stage where people are getting tired of seeing FTB Quests in packs. While it works its doesn't really feel like it fits within the game, its ui doesn't look particularly good and has limited customisability, I've never thought "Oh yes ftb Quests I love this mod!", it more "ah ftb Quests again...".

I think its about time other questing methods are given a chance, Mods like QuestLog show a lot of promise as an option for new pack creators.

As solid as this mod is you won't hear any complaints from me if I were to start seeing it less.

Overview

At one point in time Biomes O' Plenty really was everyones go to biome mod, there was a time where it was added to modpacks liek Farmers Delight and Create is today, but with so many more options becoming available its slowly lost some of its relevance.

That's not to say its a bad mod, Its not, I fact I think it still holds up today as one of the better Biome mods. I just think that will the wider variety of options people are less inclined to choose it. Mods like Terralith offer unique biome while still using vanilla wood, this allows for much easier integration with other mods without having to code additional compatibility layers.

Some of its textures can feel a little dated and a lot of the world can feel like it exists without any really purpose, but all in all not a bad biome mod even to this day.

Overview

This mod is one of those that you don't even think about installing, you just install it. You make you new instance, go to add mods and just hit install. You don't think is this mod good? Do I need it? What does this do? You just install it.

And it works. It works great.

Does exactly what it says it does and it does it perfectly.
