It's obvious a lot of love and care has been put into this pack so that it aligns with the vision of realism and immersion. Many mods are customized so that they can fit together tightly, including the shader and LOD mods. The visuals while exploring are spectacular as a result, though somewhat performance heavy. This pack is at its best when you simply try to experience it rather than progress through it.

While actually playing the pack, I found myself grow frustrated with a number of mechanics. Most notably, the combat, stamina, and nutrition systems. Pretty much everything is an insect that poisons you, and getting hit is more likely due to the swing animations on weapons and because running costs stamina. So you can burn through food pretty quick. But you can't rely on a consistent food source because any given meal will stop healing you if you eat it more than a few times. I had 4 slots dedicated to different high-value meals, and their nutrition was still decreasing gradually. All this makes caving and exploring on foot very arduous.

However there are a lot of great mechanics, too. Temperature is well implemented and works usually exactly as you expect, so make sure to bring waterskins when you adventure in an extreme season. Food spoilage is manageable. Enchanting has been totally reworked into "research", where you can craft enchantments and easily transfer them or freely repair items. Create helps you automate some survival resources when you reach that point.

In terms of progression, the general goal is to simply survive. But, there is an end goal that requires you to leverage minecolonies. Personally, I found that minecolonies in this pack did not respect my time because rain is frequent and nights cannot be skipped instantly. There was a lot of just waiting, which is time you could use to build, I suppose.

I would recommend this pack if you are looking for a challenging survival experience and don't mind just existing in the pretty world for of long periods of time. The dev is also very responsive to feedback, they seem committed to fixing bugs and improving the pack.

Mods are haphazardly piled together with no clear purpose. ProjectE invalidates most other mods anyway. You even start out with a gun so that you don't have to worry about fighting. Advertises magic, but all that really means is enchantments and affixes. Has some nice building blocks but that's about it.

This is easily one of the most polished modpacks out there. The RPG Series of mods just works so well and gives the player many different choices and you're not locked to a specific class! Personally this pack shines in the multiplayer department, specifically when playing with a small group of friends. The classes all work in tandem to deliver one of the best dungeon crawler experiences Minecraft can have. Quests are ok and the progression is well made however one of the only things I have to mention which are not so good is the structures; Having so many structures the world struggles to make them appear closer to each other which makes some quests be literally incompletable in a no-cheat run, but I understand that it's not really something you can fix.

Personally i love exploration but when it's done good, it's not that it's difficult to traverse the world only using a glider but since there is A LOT of blocks the player needs to travel why not add some interesting ways to navigate?

So my final thoughts would be:

  • Great diversified CO-OP combat experience
  • Great Performance

but

  • Some unreachable or really hard to find structures
  • Only combat focused (might be what you're looking for though)

Overview

Pixelmon really was the stepping stone that allowed Cobblemon to shine as well as it does now, While it may not have the polish or quality as Cobblemon does its where most of us began out journey with Pokemon in Minecraft, Pixelmon really did have it all, I spent 3 years as a builder on a Cobblemon server and its one of the best experiences in Minecraft I've ever had.

Even to this day Pixelmon does technically offer a larger variety of Pokemon than Cobblemon does, the main reason for this is quality. Unlike Cobblemon, Pixelmon does not use custom assets for its Pokemon it just uses models from the Pokemon games and as such it can add new Pokemon much much quicker.

Unfortunately for Pixelmon as Cobblemon grows Pixelmon is slowly going to be overshadowed...

Latest Jar for 1.12.2 is a empty mod class to trick Forge into loading it, and a empty config class to trick a user into thinking that its is doing something.

Have you ever thought getting a crafting table was too easy? Well this is the mod for you. The worldgen is wonderful and alternative progression is extremely engaging. It turns minecraft into a whole new game. The only thing keeping it away from 5 stars is the performance issues such a detailed worldgen and physics addition can cause. Still my go-to mod when I want challenge.

If you only have a few mods with one or two overlapping keybinds, you'll be fine without. But most of the time you'll want some way to search keybinds so you can actually use mods properly. If a pack doesn't have this for some reason, I highly recommend downloading it!

I love to see a pack with a clear vision, and here we certainly have one. Tailored to suit the wants of a sailor, living on a boat included. Your ship is your spawn-point, your method of travel, and once youre advanced enough, even your base of operations. The pack has a unique start to the progression where your immediate goal is to build a proper ship, which I really like.
There is a strong visual identity, made up of a borderlands-esque outline to the world and an interesting font choice (although the font size is a bit small for readability).

  • Screenshot 1: Sail the Seas (landlubbers beware)
Even the nether is a lava sea!

Very nice backpack mod that functions well. Has five tiers and lots of upgrades.

I dont really like mods that have kofi/supporter stuff built in, but this mod does it best by checking against a gist father that sending stuff the the authors site. However, there is no way to disable the check so it will always run.
