Overview

Now this is a great mod, It really is. That is however not to say its a perfect mod, its not.

Whether not not you like this mod will really depend on what your looking to get out of it, Its largest strength also tends to be its greatest weakness. You can get powerful, really really powerful, and some people love this, the stronger the better. But this comes with two issues, the first being balance. Why use a sword when you can drop a meteor on someone, it completely overshadow vanilla combat.

Secondly is mospack balance, due to the plug and play nature of a lot of modpacks it has a bad habit of remaining unbalanced within modpack even against other magic mods. Teleportation, Use Irons spells. Want a tame, Summon one. Want to go mining? Therse a spell for that. Feel like flying? There's a spell for that to. Combat? More spells that you can imagine.

And as I said this really is a double edge sword because the spell are really really well made and the textures and animations for them look incredible, They're just a little too good for most pack without a lot of balance.

If there was a more expansive suite of mod that expanded of play styles, Melee, Archery etc on the same level as Magic it might be able to find a home in more packs.

Overview

Now as many problems with this mod as I have, I've got to admit it remains one of the best Medieval Fantasy and Mythology mods that has ever been created, with a selection of mobs that few mods to this day have been able to rival and probably still the best tameable dragons in modding.

Only in the last year or so have mods like Bosses Rise started to overshadow it in what I can only call "Dragon Quality". The ingame guide and method for unlocking entrys is interesting and immersive and encourages both exploration and interaction with the various gameplay loops in the mod.

This is now where issues start to crop up as they can be found in most aspects of the mod, The largest in my opinion is the graphics as extremely outdated in today's standard, the models and textures are poor in comparison to more modern mod releases. This wouldn't be too bad if not for the fact that the models are hard coded and the community is very limited in what they can do when it comes to resource packs and other such systems.

Another problem is the quality of the core feature of this mod, Dragon. While overall the function well they have always felt extremely difficult to use smoothly, Flight and combat using the dragons always feels like the game is fighting back.

I have a lot of hope for Ice and Fire 2 which is currently in development, having seen some of the early development for this mod it should fix the vast majority of issues the exist in the current versions of Ice and Fire and may once again rise from the ashes to be the top Dragon mod out there.

Underrated is definitely the best word I can think of to describe this mod, It tends to be overshadowed my the more simple tree chop mods. And while I can understand that decision as Dynamic trees changes the overall feel of a pack quite significantly. I do think people need to give it more of a chance.

If you're aiming to make your world feel "real" Dynamic trees really is one of the best mods you can go for, when it comes to immersion few mods do better.

The number of addons available for this mod make it difficult to complain about a lack of compatibility, from Terralith, Biomes of plenty, Dense Trees, there's more than enough addons to make a pack feel complete.

The only issue I've experience with this pack is it can occasionally cause modded trees you do want to spawn not to, The mod bountiful adds unique fruit trees that are simply removed with Dynamic trees installed. This is something the could be solved with an addon in the future however.

Nostalgia..... many years ago was the go to dimension mod, and for a lot of people it might have been the mod that got them into minecraft, A lot of people will have got into modded Minecraft during the period of time where all the modded youtube videos you could find were about Twilight Forest, PopularMMOs being my personal introduction to the mod.

But over the years its slowly fallen from grace, with poor textures, unfinished content and a lack of updates for longer than I can remember.

The authors keep the pack updated to the latest version but thats about it.

Its been a while since this mod was truly worth downloading.... as Nostalgic as it may be...

An average but very well made backpack mod with upgrades and dye support that I use frequently. Feels like a spiritual successor to Adventure Backpacks and that's awesome.

Only issue I had was with mobs spawning with a backpack and the jukebox upgrade, letting them be annoying if you cant find the mob, but i believe you can disable that in the config.

My overall rating is lower as the mod developer P3pp3rF1y changed the license from GPLv3 to All Rights Reserved on Feb 10, 2025, to "stop some not so nice actors from blatantly copying and profiting off of my work and Rid's art", but i believe it was done as an attempt to keep Retro Sophisticated Backpacks (a backport for 1.12.2) and other forks from being made.

Even if this is not the case, switching to All Rights Reserved after a mod has been open source since Nov 24, 2020 (1,539 days!) is pretty scummy and actions like this can hurt the mod ecosystem over time

Hands down one of my favorite tech mods, tied only with oritech. It definitely got weird in 1.10 and 1.12 with requiring special dyes and primitive versions of machines, but it's re-found its footing and still remains competitive with other tech mods when it comes to ore processing. Its logistics is the main selling point as you can stack different types of pipes in the same space.

That being said, it could use a bit of a face lift. Textures have not changed throughout versions that much if at all and several machines share the same texture. It would also be nice for newer versions to re-implement machines from older editions, but I understand it's going to take some time.

I really like it on the surface. Vanilla enchanting is bad and Apotheosis takes the vanilla style and makes it useable. The spawner mechanics are also really nice, I love being able to change what mob is in a spawner and how fast it can be.

My biggest gripe is with the adventure module, it throws the balance of most packs off. While the world tier system has made this less of an issue, it can still throw off the power curve of packs that just throw it in there

Disclaimer: I've only played the playtest versions, but 1.0.0 is the closest version I can select

Sunlit valley was already one of my favorite modpacks, so adding another dimension to the gameplay loop made it even better. Love that you can choose when you want to deal with most cobblemon elements.

Same performance issues as normal sunlit. And while you can drag a SV world into this pack, it's best to start a new world for the added cobblemon world gen

I played every single GeoPol version from V1 to V8 (Or 'season 8') and was briefly a developer/moderator from V4-V6, and i can say that this modpack gave me some of the highest highs and lowest lows of a modded server.

I got to meet lots of interesting people and get better in my understanding of game design in playing and working on the server. GeoPol was lots of fun.
